My main concern is why I can't get rear led's to work. They don't hyperflash.
They start blinking weird. With rear led's when I use left blinker I have the rear right and front left blink and some other odd symptoms. Craziest shit I've ever seen.

:scratchhead: sounds like you got some electrical gremlins... Have you tested by putting your incadenscent bulbs back in to see if the issue is still there? If so it's either your wiring going to the back trunk or the signal relay is iffy.
https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b...orking-928077/

Check that thread, it talks about some broken wiring, that may or may not be related..

Considering they can be had for ~30 cents on digikey.com. that's quite a markup there buddy..

Also get that crap onto the Black Market where it belongs!

1.50 shipped is still not bad lol.

Yea my halogen rear bulbs have no issues. I gave up on rear blinker led bulbs couple years ago.

Although I found this thread again because I am re-visiting changing my switchbacks for different bulbs or for amber only.
Plus now that DRL led technology is a couple more years older I am looking into upgrading my led lights throughout.

Installed front LED turn signals last week, and just today was able to complete this mod. Thanks so much for the info, it worked fantastic and was relatively easy.

By the way, I picked up a 2-pack of these resistors at Fry's for about 99 cents. I think normally they are like $1.50 but this package was the last so they marked it down. So far everything works fine, with headlights on and off.

just bought the ACME corner light switchbacks and bought these resistors from Frys. Comes in a pack of 2! Works perfectly.

If anyone is squeemish and wants someone to do it for them--LMK!

TIP: I had to hulk this relay out of its socket. Didnt know it was in there that hard... Then I had to use a thin flat head to get the circuit board out of the relay housing. I tried for 5mins with my fingers and gave up, used flat head and it popped off.

Shout out to bSpecialist..!!

So soldering in two .12ohm or just one .24 will eliminate your hyper flash. I have an 08 type s led's all four corners and it flashes like it should now. No problems what so ever..!!👍🏻 you have to solder the two .12 in series though. Like he said before it should make a triangle

***Recently completed swapping the shunt resistor in mine...

==> A couple of weeks ago, I successfully completed uninstalling the recently installed (...but never-to-be-used-again!!) load-resistors and installing the shunt resistor I'd ordered from Digi-Key.com. Unlike some who'd ordered the resistors prior to me, I was able to ordered a single, 0.12ohm resistor for a couple of $s. My switchbacks are just as awesome as ever, and I don't cringe every time those damn energy wasting, heat dissipating load-resistors crossed my mind! I give my oath to never use another set of load-resistors again, whereas before I was unaware that there's such a simple fix to the hyperblink problem. But now, thanks to roger555, I won't have to sacrifice wasting useful electricity in my TL! Thank you roger555!!

Resistors =unnecessary heat produced which is a waste of electricity.

Did this yesterday while stuck inside from the hurricane. Ordered .12 Ohm resistor from digikey, 15 minutes in all, works great!

These are the resistors I ordered from digikey. What way do these need to be or are they universal? I am clueless when it comes to this stuff. I would assume they are one way resistors.

Hi Breezy, you can install the resistor either way, BUT I did notice the picture of the packing label you posted says 12 OHMS 3W. You will need a .24 1W (POINT 24) if you have front and rear LED blinkers, so the hyper flash does not occur. I also purchased my resistors from digikey and they cost around 30 cents for one with $7 dollar priority mail. There are cheaper shipping methods, but I did not mind the shipping cost as I wanted the resistor expedited.

I searched the part number from your label on the digikey website to confirm the resistor specs. PNP300JR-73-12R Yageo | Resistors | DigiKey

Thanks to winn746, I was able to get this to work. I do have a second one that is modified from my part out. If anyone doesn't feel confident doing this themselves, I am selling the second one. Check out the BM for the ad!

Thanks OP. .22 ohm 1W works perfectly. Front and back LED signals no problem. 08 Base.

Hey guys, real quick... I tried a 50 Ohm 1 W 1% resistor on my '08 TLS, and it only got rid of the hyper flash when my hazard lights were on. Still experiencing the issue when I use my turn signals. Does that mean that 50 Ohms is an overkill?

P.S. Huge props to the topic-starter for providing a legit fix on led hyper flash!

Why not use the properly spec'd resistor ???

Even YOU have an answer to your question.
They said use XYZ...you used something else and it didn't work as planned.
The answer is use XYZ. You even gave OP props for recommending XYZ that you chose not to use.
Tread lightly with your snide comments to senior members that do nothing but troubleshoot and share and research for newer members on here all day long.
THEY are what make this forum great.

Look, I'm interested in the technical aspect here. No offense to respected members here, but when I'm pretty much asking a "why?" question and get in response another "why?" question... That's just not helpful.

I'll answer this question

No, it means you used the wrong resistor.

Everyone is using a .12 ohm resistor. POINT TWELVE. (Or .24 for front or back only)

You put in a FIFTY OHM resistor. That's FOUR HUNDRED times the proper resistance .

Do the math man ..

My bad, I meant to type .50 Ohm. I get the point, though. It's too much. Thank you for your time man

The funny part is, man...
you actually provided more useful information than most of the last few pages.
You at least let people know what happens if you get to the point of too much impedance.
At one point a member had bought it in bulk and sold individually for cheap.

I recall HATING removing the light board so much I was glad to be one and done with it.

Do you guys have any idea where I can get these .12 ohm 1 watt resistors in Canada?

I tried Sayal electronics and they don't carry any resistors that low
