AC much colder on the left than the right
AC much colder on the left than the right
I have a 2005 TL. Yesterday I noticed that the AC wasn't performing as strongly as it has been all along. We are experiencing a record heat wave in SoCal, and the problem is very apparent.
I pulled into the garage and cranked temperature on the AC all the way down to "Low." I measured the temperature coming out of the left two vents (on either side of the steering) with a laser thermometer and I measured 61 degrees. On the right (on either side of the glove box), I have 77 degrees.
Also, I think that there is slightly less volume of air coming out of those two right vents as well. It's hard to say exactly as my attention is hyper-focused on the system now.
As I have driven around town the past two days, I want to say that the left two vents occasionally don't feel as cool as the measurements I got in the garage.
Any idea what the culprit might be?
Thank you gurus

I mistakenly posted my question under the Gen4 TL/TSX, and I have a Gen3.
I think it would be better posted here since it, presumably, gets a more accurate audience to my question. I scoured that previous erroneous post, but I couldn't find a delete/remove option. If you'll educate me on how to find that, I will gladly remove it in favor of this better one.
So in answer to your question, yes, I feel is appropriate to open this thread in the more accurate audience.

My '05 throws no codes, but without a doubt has issues. I am pretty sure my blend door and/or mixing door are sticking, but I am too cheap and too lazy to actually take a look. Generally the driver's side is warmer than the passenger side as well as there is no temp swing unless we go from Lo to Hi. Changing from 65 to 75 degrees just blows cold air. I can't get warmer air until I swing it up to Hi and then bring it back down. None of the diagnostic checks throws any codes with the self test.
Previously the dealer has tried to tell me the temp differences were due to low Freon charge. I never quite believed them, but I was also never willing to put the effort into proving them wrong.

Thank you for all the brain power...especially Peter6 for posting that info about diagnostics. That is so cool. Unfortunately I did not know about that function before I took it in to the dealer to just get it fixed.
They fixed it and reported:
.
They charged me $168 for this.

Verified AC is not cooling correctly. Recovered 0.5 oz of R134A fro AC system. Low refrigerant charge causing poor cooling. Isolated leaks to high and low side services ports. Replaced right and low side service schrader valves and recharged the system. AC operating as designed after repair
