So the American Honda eStore says the price for a cargo tray is $135 without installation or $148.40 with installation. Huh? You're going to charge someone almost $15 just to lay the one-piece molded thing down on the back cargo area behind the back seats. Wow. Just wow.

Apparently! Crazy stuff. Anybody who pays the dealership to "install" a cargo tray should have his or her driver's license revoked and told to keep off the highways. lol

i guess you can also complain about how a Nissan GT-R is $110,000 and how you can also get a Nissan Versa for $20,000.

"why would someone pay $90,000 extra, it's just a car "

different strokes different folks, it's there because SOMEONE will pay for it.

Back to the cargo tray thing. Why pay $13.40 for a 2 second "install" job? That $13.40 could've gone towards the $110,000 you're trying to save for your new GT-R. I don't know what's more foolish, that, or spending $110,000 on a car.

I think it's more foolish to complain about things that don't concern you at all.

If you were actually paying the install it, then sure, complain away. If you aren't doing it anyway, what's the point?

Hey, Mr. Tell People What To Post Or Not To Post Or Complain Or Not Complain About (a.k.a. Mr. Snark himself), in the same breath you're on this post starting with, "I think..." you're going to regulate what I want to post about what I THINK about something? You know what you can do with your self-righteous pompous rear-end.

Ridiculous. But if I was a tech, I wouldn't be happy about having to vacuum up the stinky dog fur, cheerios and other goodies that motivated the cargo mat purchase in the first place

That's a good point, from the tech's perspective. Then the $13.40 might be cheap. Ha!

I love when the service adviser shows you the dirty cabin filter and then charges labor to put a new one in.
If you say no like I do to a change, the dirty cabin filter is put back at no charge.

How about the installation cost for all season floor mats? Next will be an installation charge for placing that nice "Acura" cap on your head after you buy it.

In all seriousness, the price for installation includes more than just dropping the mats or liner in place. Let's look at a real event for which this fee would be charged. I take my RDX in for an oil change. I ask for the cargo liner to be put in as well. I could go and buy the liner while I was there and put it in myself when I get the car back, but if I ask the dealership to do it the tech has to go over to parts, ask for the liner, go back to the car, remove it from the box and put it in the car. All of this takes time. The tech makes money on the jobs they do. The $13.40 charge takes into account the amount of time an average tech would take to get the liner installed (not just the time it takes to actually place it in the car, but the steps up to that point as well). Same goes for floor mats. Want to avoid the charges? Either buy it yourself and put it in, or ask for it to be put in the car when you buy it new. I have never had installation fees on mats/liners when I did that. I even negotiated a total price for the roof rack with installation when I bought mine.

Reason #3489123947123 to never go to the stealership for anything. They will nickel and dime you to death! But in all honesty, What was the point to complain about $13.40? I am with justnspace on this one. It is a service, and services must be paid for.

"Stealership"...lol.

Anyway, $13.40 won't break anybody's bank. If anybody wants to pay the dealership to unpack the box for you and do an expert job of sliding that one plastic piece into that little teeny square of space behind the back seats, impeccably aligning everything just so, to your exact expectations and specifications, please, please do so. You just give up your trip to Starbucks that day, and you can feel good you have contributed to the tech's paycheck for his or her efforts, and everybody is happy.

I think you're actually agreeing with thoiboi. He's the one who complained about my complaining and wanted to put me in my place. Feel free to complain about my complaining, too. No charge.

I bought my cargo liner online and it took all of 2 minutes to install...

as for them charging to install it, they have to pay someone to do it so guess what, you get to pay... you can always opt to install it your self... it's not that hard...

Well, it cost new parents $40.00 for a nurse to be present while they hold their baby !

The News reached out to Utah Valley Hospital for an explanation of the fee.

"There is never a charge for a patient to hold their baby," said UVH spokeswoman Janet Frank. "We do everything possible to allow all mothers skin-to-skin contact with their newborns immediately after delivery. Only in the case of a c-section birth is an additional nurse brought into the operating room. This is to ensure both mom and baby remain safe, as the mother has been medicated for the procedure.
