my dad kept pushing me to get a 350z instead of the TL which I wasn't really opposed to but I fell in love with the 3g when it came out in 04 and knew when I could afford one that I would jump on it.
Those 350's did not age well at all IMO. To me they basically just look like a maxima of that year . The 370's though, they look sharp as fuck
I like the back end of the 350s a lot still... I find the headlights didn't age very well though. The car does look dated. The OEM wheel options didn't overly appeal to me either, even when the car was new. The interior is a nice place to be, but honestly, I have to agree with you- I think the TL has aged much better overall than the 350.
Plus, it's way more practical and comfortable. The 4 doors and tons of space inside is fantastic. The one thing that really irks me about the TL is the lack of folding down seats in the back. I get why they did it the way it is, but it makes it near impossible to transport anything over 4 feet long. That, and I'm not a fan of the Nissan community. Not that it's bad, but they're into stuff that I find the Honda community isn't all about. Looking at the 370 forum, so many people are about aftermarket body kits amongst other stuff I would never dare put on a car, and if you don't do FI, you're behind the times. On AZ there is, what, maybe a dozen guys currently on the boards with FI? On the 370 forum, there is easily 200 guys with FI, and more being added daily. And starting price for that is generally around at least 10k US. With supporting mods, you're looking at 15-16k US
It might be the lack of aftermarket support for the TL, but even back in my Civic days, where aftermarket support is beyond ginormous, lots of guys were cool with doing NA builds, keeping the body simple with maybe an OEM lip or kit, nice wheels and nice suspension bits and engine swaps. Nothing too too crazy.
Nissan guys are all about FI. They always have been. And body kits. And wide body cars. And huge spoilers. Etc... not to say Honda/Acura guys don't do the same, but it seems much less frequent.

About the aging , I get ppl asking if my car is brand new. Not because the paint but because the cars lines and overall design still looks very modern. Then if you step in to look at the interior, yes its clean and classy but by todays standards its very out of date. The TL shows its age in the interior IMO....
Oh and Adam I'm not hating on Gizzmo. I loved my 07 G35. Big bro to the 350. I had always wanted one and got a red coupe! Great car but I was driving wayyyy to much in Houston and it was too rich for my position back then. Loved the stock exhaust sound!

do you have the navi screen in yours? While yes, it doesn't look like new cars, I find the interior quite nice. Granted, the screen display is very dated looking- it looks like an 8-bit Nintendo powering the navigation but the styling I think is still very nice.

I've never dug into how similar they are, but it sounds like the car just evolved a little in 2009. The new generation (if one comes out- lots of people thinking it won't happen, but with the TT Q60 out now, I'm betting it will... why not maximize profits from the platform) will be a completely new car.

Luckily no damage.. he finally sold it after 20 years of ownership to a young kid who begged to get the homie price.

My first month of driving the TL around, I had some roided out douche in a 350 flip me off..
whole arm out the window like a teacher's pet anxious to be the one to answer teacher...
The only thing I could think why he was mad was possibly unable to cut over two lanes to turn right, and I came up too fast as the light turned red.
So instead of cutting me off to turn, he had to stay back, get over and then turn.. I didn't even know he was getting over until he did (had blacked out tails too.. doubt he uses signals)
My whole take from it was.. have to be a douche apparently to own a 350.. glad to have picked the TL!
