Caliper rubbing on staggered wheel?
I have a 2004 Acura TL 6MT with after market wheels 19x8.5 in the front 19x9.5 in the back on tein suspension the other day I went to do a full brake job all around calipers rotors and pads, noticing my front passenger side had a large Acura caliper (brembo looking) and would not take the new caliper but my drivers side did? I put the old one back on but now it's rubbing on my wheel currently, the other caliper was smaller so it didn't rub the wheel but it was grinding on the rotor cause it sat crooked, all in all I ordered wheel spacers as a temp fix any ideas? Thanks!

That's weird. You should have brembos in both sides on the front. Someone must have changed something.
If your wheels are rubbing on the brembos, you have the wrong offset and or style of rims.

they were not rubbing before i tried to switch them, but when i put the oem caliper back on its rubbing bad now, but like i said i dont get how my drivers side took the other caliper no problem?
also, if i get another brembo like caliper to put on the drivers side im not sure if it will match up due to the other one matching up properly lol im just confused at this point i believe my only option is to add the wheel spacers to make it work without grinding on the wheel.

that is exactly it, i purchased the car two weeks prior to this lol, anyway took it to my honda dealership they said no problem saw my front driver side and ordered rotors pad and calipers all the way around, the front passenger side has the brembo type but my driver side has the same knuckle and hub as a automatic does and my passenger has a 6 speed manual knuckle and hub lol so stupid enough my calipers grinding because the rotor side is different and makes it stick out more since its supposed to be a automatic caliper on there so i ordered a new knuckle and hub and will change to a automatic single piston

not at all actually, i was just doing a quick once over because i got the car cheap enough body was great, car fax is clean no accidents, guessing he slammed a curb and got a junkyard knuckle and hub and switch the whole thing out, either way im doing the same to the other side and switching to a automatic knuckle and just going to put it on.

FYI
The part numbers for the VSA modulator between 5AT and 6MT are different, so I would look into that. If you put the AT knuckle on, try to make sure ABS and traction work correctly.

when people switch their 5AT to brembo brakes and pads all they do is switch the knuckle out to a 6MT, so ill test the opposite and id figure it would work seeing how i have one already on my car lol

The problem is that many aftermarket wheels don't have clearance for the Brembos. A look for aftermarket replacement wheels on ebaY will show you that the 'replica' wheels that look just like the originals are clearly marked "Will Not Fit 6 Speed Models WIth Brembo Brakes". My bet is those wheels don't either.

Downgrading my brakes on a car i rarely take out i'm not to worried about, original problem was one side in the front is already a 5AT caliper and brake set up, other side was the 6MT which rubbed on the wheels, junkyard had a 5 AT knuckle and hub set up for 70 bucks in good condition, already had the new rotors and caliper for it so why not just get it over with, i realized this after i posted this thread but problem is fixed now lol and i didnt want to use wheel spacers from all the horror stories ive heard, all in all cost me 150$ and 4 hours of work.

because the 6 MT came with brembo brakes.. so you downgraded the brakes for your car.. 'modding it for worse' than for better if you will..
