...the trim level from pictures? I've found several interesting RLX's out of state but most dealers (if not Acura) are clueless about trim level.
How can you tell from pictures what the trim level is? What is a dead giveaway that a car has a certain feature that indicates a trim level that would be evident in most dealer photos?
Also, there used to be a thread here that talked in detail about the changes of equipment levels in the various years by trim but I couldn't find it. Anybody have a link handy?
The easiest way is to look at the steering wheel, if it has 2 buttons on the bottom right side curve that would mean that it is the advanced model. If you are in Canada it should also have a button for the heated steering wheel. Also you may look at the 4-5 buttons on the lower right side dash (behind the steering wheel).
As far as changes in trim levels, I remember that there were changes from one year to the next that made the tech more "techie" - was that from 14 to 15 or from 15 to 16?
I think that all advanced models for 2015 have a heated steering wheel, I have a 2015 advanced US model and it has one. Another tell is to look at the speaker covers in the doors, the advanced models have the silver Krell covers where the tech models have a cover matching the color of the door panel. The other tell from the outside is to look for the front and rear parking sensors on the bumpers, advance models has them and the tech models does not.
If OEM wheels, 18'' is < Technology trim
If no rear door sunshades < Technology trim
If ventilated front seats = Advance Trim (4 switches on lower center stack - 2 heated + 2 ventilated switches)
RE: KRELL speaker covers: Yes KRELL is standard on Advance trim (all years), but was available as a KRELL package on Technology trim 2014-2015 (in USA). In those cases, you would need to qualify the trim level with another visible Advance trim feature.
Thanks all. That'll help me narrow down my search before I start contacting dealers. These cars are getting crazy cheap these days. Too bad I can't find a Sport Hybrid at a killer price.

You should really consider paying a little more for the SH, if its in your budget. Its a totally different experience.......
^^I'll second pgeorg's suggestion. The Hybrid is more fun to drive and the AWD is very handy to have when the snow starts to fall. Of course with only 50 a year made (Canadian model), finding a used one would be a challenge. Perhaps once the window for lease returns opens on the Sport Hybrid in the next few years, some become available???
Actually i believe none of the 2014 SH owners on this site have had any problems with them, except for the slow unresponsive infotainment system....
RLX-Sport Hybrid had a noise coming from the front suspension, but it was taken care of with a visit to the service department.

the slow navi/infotainment is difficult to live with - especially if you use the navi a lot. If I would have known, it might have been a showstopper for me, but I have PAWS. SH probably tips it in the buy direction and live with the slow navi
Slow NAV is the price we 2014-ers paid for being first and having an extra year with this extraordinary car. It seems a small price, and they did improve it greatly in the 2016. I saw the slow NAV issues on my test drive in November of 2014, but it seemed like a tiny price to pay for the way the car handled. I would absolutely make the same decision again today and do not regret the purchase in any way. Fantastic car with a slow NAV. What car is so perfect that there are no less than great features? I guess cars (like life) are full of trade-offs.
I owned a 2004 RL with no Navi response problems and it included traffic and voice recognition. You certainly do not expect to go backwards in response time and the traffic coverage is worse.
I cannot think of any other technology that got worse over time

i so agree with you. I never even considered that Acura's newest flagship would go backwards with the infotainment system. As others have said it is a disappointment but the handling, performance and luxury elsewhere make it livable. I too came to the RLX from a '05 RL.

I also agree with you getakey, and I also came from an ('06) RL. My point was not that it is anything but embarrassing, only that it is what it is and is to me totally worth the trade-off for everything else about the fantastic car. But it should not have happened.
