That is odd. Did you hear it click when you touched the trunk open button on the door? Maybe it opened but the rubber seal was sticky from the heat so the trunk did not flip up? Just a thought.

Would not click - I thought it might be stuck, but no.
After starting engine and turning off, I used button in car and trunk popped open all the way

Isn't there a button you can push under the trunk to open it? I tried to open it with the button and it won't. It will open with the keys or the button in the car or am I doing something wrong?

The button on the trunk won't work, for obvious reasons, unless you have the key fob on you - did you try it without your fob nearby? If not, then perhaps your button needs repairing.

There is a rubber button, near the camera that you press to open the trunk. Look in your manual and you will see where it is located. Sometime, I find myself having to feel around to find it.

You must be carrying the transmitter, or whoever has the transmitter needs to be close.

The button on the outside is to the right of the camera, mounted under the lip. It's not visible to the casual observer.

This happened again. Car unlocked. Fob in pocket. Could not get into trunk until I started the car.

With my car in my garage, transmitter in MBR closet, I can open my trunk with the button if car is unlocked - should it be like this?

It could be the trunk lid latch:

Or the Trunk lid opener solenoid relay.

This would be something the Service Department could figure out.

I tried it and that is how mine works. If the car is unlocked, and i don't have the key fob with me the trunk opens with the button (next to the backup camera).

Are you standing directly behind the trunk or to the side? It won't work properly if you're to the side.

During all three times that the trunk wouldn't open, neither the trunk button on the FOB nor the trunk button on the driver's door would work. It only opened after the car was started.

I experienced the same issue yesterday. My fob was in the same pocket as my iPhone. Once I removed my iPhone the trunk released.
