Thanks fellas! Hitch rack is SO needed as I hate dropping mud ontop of my car after mountain biking.
As for the cancer, I may have scored a connection with a good body shop. I waited on a guy and his wife who loved me and said he can repair it after we got talking about each other's cars. Hopefully it won't be an arm and a leg. One positive'ish thing though, it hasn't gotten into the pillar or on any structural spots. Seems its isolated and not as deep. With luck my friend still works at an automotive glass shop, so maybe he can hook me up. I'll have it looked at this week and keep you all informed of my fotrune or misfortune.
I won't let this car die though! Needs to survive 2-3 years till I have my final degree!

Hey guys so I have a little update on the rust situation. Found out some things. One, the windshield was a replacement so whoever installed it sucks at their job as that's what started the rust in the first place. Two, it's going to cost me an arm and a leg...
Cost is around $900-1200 for the whole job. Is it worth it? No.. Car has 130k on the odometer now so it's seen its years. I only plan to keep it for another 2-3 years before I get another TL most likely. So I'm just going to save my money and not do it. It won't help resale by the time I'm done with my car.
But I have a solution I want to run past you guys. I'm thinking I should mask off the surrounding area, sand it down, prime and paint it with can paint, then wrap the roof with matte black vinyl. Total cost would be $225 and it would last a year maybe two...
The rust issue I have a skillful guy who will repair the rust for around $400 so I'm safe there.
Two days ago I was WOT for a short distance and after letting off my "D" light began to flash accompanied by the VSA light and the CEL coming on. I pulled over and shut the car off. Started it back on and the CEL was still lit. No issues though as shifting and the whole transmission feels like butter. The code was P0762 "Shift Solenoid C Stuck ON". So most likely I just have a little solenoid electrical issue that needs replacing. Or it just acted up. I disconnected the battery and 100+ miles later nothing has returned. I'm going to do pressure switches and a 1x3 ATF drain/fill this week just to give it some love that I'm assuming its asking for.
Yeah!! Making out like a bandit on that price. It's hard to say if those switches are the case. The solenoids have a filter on them so if the fluid is too dirty it should have made a little back up on it. But I'm doing that 1x3 with Amsoil ATF today and I'll do two more spaced out
Finished up doing a 1x3 drain/fill today and used Amsoil Synthetic ATF. The old fluid was black like oil and the drain plug had a fair amount of sludge on it. It really needed this! Next 1x3 in a week or so to space it out as well as pressure switches. No solenoid issues yet (hopefully it was just a block in the filter with the dirty fluid).
I wish I snapped a few pics of the fluid just to show you guys, but all I have is this sick pic with the back end dumped on my bike rack LOL (my one friend sleeping while I work on the left)
dude, 130k miles is nothing. Lol I bought my car at that mileage. That rust spot is certainly worth fixing and worth doing it the right way. If you cheap out on it then its going to get even worse down the road then no one will want to buy it like that

Oh trust me I am not cheaping out. The guy who's doing it for $400-500 owns a body shop and ive seen his work. He's going to pull the windshield and make sure it's cut out.

I was hoping to see you repair the damage yourself to save a few hundred bucks over the quote you got and then maybe share some progress pics.
