FamilyGuy's 6MT Type S
Neither. So far just asked if I was MT or AT. I told him and after asked if he needed a log for the first tune. Waiting to hear back.

he's fairly responsive and professional when i worked with him...but sometimes he would give a cal back in a day and sometimes a few days to a week. on the other hand sometimes dom and i would do 3-4 logs/calibrations an evening haha
if i remember correctly you'll be doing mostly 3rd gear pulls to fuel cut.
the reason that there is 07 and 08 cals is because the calibrations are year specific. i don't know why they aren't compatible but i know when i was tuning with vit he gave me some 07 cals that i couldn't use so he had to send me some 08 cals.

Gota do it after work. 1st cal he asks to log a normal drive for 20-25mins with no WOT or vtec. So Sunday drive. Not for rush hour
Bluetooth feature seems like a cool little feature to play with. Already downloaded the app just need a moment to figure out how to turn it on/set it up etc.

yea i was super bummed when they came out with the bluetooth version but required the non-bluetooth owners to pay 180 bucks to "upgrade" to what is now provided standard. such BS but oh well
newest as in last 2 years or so. yea they have something on their website where you type in the serial number and they can tell you if it has it or not. the first year or so of production didn't have the bluetooth built in, but any of them in the last 2 years should have bluetooth
exactly, pretty shitty that they expect people to pay 1/4th the cost of a new one for something that comes standard. it would be awesome to use but the upgrade cost is not justified since the flashpro unit gets in the way of the 3rd pedal if you were to keep it in and use bluetooth continuously. but the engine codes and clearing would have been a nice feature
They may be different by car idk mine is labeled US TL 2007+ probably wouldn't work on a civic
Ok time to go out and give this thing a try. Not too exciting on the 1st tune with no WOT/vtec but still fun to play with a new toy. Gona try the Bluetooth too.

Ok everything worked well. The BT is nice, allowing you to monitor the car in real time without having to bring the pc. 2 of the pins on the FP plug are sticking out a bit, I hope it holds, IIRC some had issues with these pins being pulled from the plug? In any case, 1st log submitted back to Vit.
Last pic below - Sensor List, there are a lot more things in there, it scrolls down.

That's a pretty nice interface for them. Can you add dials like torque pro too? Hope your tuning goes well man!
When you get further into tuning can you let me know what your vtec range gets set at? Curious to see

Thx! I don't know if you can add dials or even chose which functions it displays. I'll play with it more on the 2nd tune. What you see above is how it comes by default.
I'll let you know. What's yours set at now? This starter tune has vtec set at 5500. I think it's just Vit making sure you don't hit vtec by accident. I've talked to him before and he said even though he tweaks it, Honda pretty much nailed it. I don't know if cams or head work would affect that.
You ever dyno your car after tuning?

i want to get on a dyno but haven't yet. i was waiting for my 105k service which is done now so i'll make that my summer goal

i did a few edynos before and they came out around 300-310 but i think i'm more like 290-300 if anything.
are you going to dyno after?
hey ivo what's your vtec range set to on the starter tune? i looked up my last one from vit and it says 4550 for lower/5800 for upper rpms. just curious how that compares to what he gave you. i'm not even sure what the stock one is
here's the virtual dyno vit gave me on my last logs...like i said i think these are higher than what power i really have (by about 10-20 hp):

5500 for both.
The OEM equivalent tune that comes with FP is set at 4950/4950. What does the minimum engage and fusing age speeds mean? If you ease up the rpms vtec will actually not engage?
The "07 MT tuned" cal that comes with FP has 4850/4850. I think I may try this tune right now at lunch just to see how it feels.

yea from what i read it means that if there is a lighter load vtec won't kick in until later. it's weird that vit's tune has such a big gap when other tunes i've seen have more closely related values like you mentioned
i'm just mostly being curious, i don't even run the final tune from vit because i think dom's tune is much better and had much more detail put into it.
as far as i know minimum engage and disengage speeds are never changed and all you need to make sure is the disengage speed is lower than the engage speed haha
Sockr1, what is ur current tune from Dom set at? I should be able to start tuning with Dom in a few days. The FP can support 2 calibrations, but how do you choose which goes into 1 vs 2? I suppose you can simply load any one tune at any point in time too. I already made folders in my PC for Vit and Dom, both for cals and logs, so they don't get mixed up.
Btw "fusing age" is really "disengage" damn autocorrect.

dom's is 4650/4800 and he got more power out of it for my specific mod setup than vit's range.
so loading 1 vs 2 was confusing at first but it's pretty simple. to load the first one, you just hit program when tied into your car. for the second one, you hold down "datalog" for a few seconds and then hit program to load the cal.
yea, you can load any calibration at any point
i understood what you meant with "fusing age" haha
I'm def looking forward to tune with Dom!
Ok I get it, thx. Honestly, I'm doing it now and seems simpler to just load the cal into FP, then the car, one at a time, overriding the last tune each time. This way there's no wondering which tune got loaded, at least for a noob like me
I don't even bring the PC to the car, easier to just load the FP and off you go vs lugging around an old ass 5lb laptop.

I've heard and seen good things about both Vit and Dom. Ultimately I decided to tune with both because that way I have support from 2 tuners over time, in case 1 drops out of the business for whatever reason. Financially it also makes sense to get the FP w/tune bundle from Vit, considering what he charges for a tune sold separately. I didn't want to spend 300 bucks for Vit in case Dom stops tuning in the future, had I chosen to go with Dom only. The bundle + Dom is still cheaper than buying FP separately and adding a Vit tune on top of it.
So the "tuned" cal that comes with FP felt a little smoother down low rpms, but not enough time in my little 3 mile commute to work to judge any diff up top. It's also hot as shit out right now 90F so I'm sure the car got heat soaked quickly, I wasn't on the highway. Either way, nothing in this tune that blew me away.

I'll try after work
I read somewhere - I think Vit? - that he kept a small dip on one customer so that the customer gets the thrill of a quick 20hp jump every time he hits vtec. Apparently he screeches the tires when this happens. His point was make the car fun. But yea I never liked the dip in the TL and I doubt it'll ever screech tires of this size with just some bolt ons.
