Recently added a 2015 GTR to the stable. After 5+ satisfying years with the TL-S, it was time to get something more fun to satisfy an itch for more power and better handling. Originally, it was a lot of back and forth between the M5 and E63S for months but ended up driving a friend's GTR which is what sealed the deal. After thinking about it, we didn't need another sedan and it made better sense because the depreciation hit was taken by the previous owner. The tough part will be moving on from the GTR if it ever happens. The car ruins people and now I understand it first hand. No other cars in the same price range is as fun to drive.
No other car in it's price range? 2015+ gtrs are over 100grand.. almost 200 if you looking for a nismo.
Gtr's aint exactly cheap anymore, they go up in price every year

It sounds like you're not very familiar with the actual sales price and volume of the GTR market in the last two years if you're just referencing MSRP. With Nissan employing a few strategies to reduce ground inventory such as incentives, Nissan Direct 6-month employee lease deals (at $500/month), and other factors, the market prices have taken a huge hit.
With the refreshed 2017 model around the corner, the 2016 incentives are probably due out as soon as June 1 and it is predicted prices will again be at least $10k or more off MSRP like the previous two years where it was $10k factory + $10k dealer (total of $20k off).
There are currently almost 300 new GTRs sitting in dealer inventory that aren't moving without those incentives. Sucks to be someone who paid MSRP but it pays to understand the market before diving in as BRAND NEW 2014/2015s sold for $82-85k before tax+license.
SO i just recently got back into a 08 TL, having owned an 05 TL. I traded it in for an 07 G35 Coupe. liked that car, had always wanted one, and kinda wish i still had it. But alas we went the SUV route once we started family.
When i was shopping for the recent TL i did look at an 07 BMW 328xi, a 2011 lexus is 350, but previous owner was smoker and cigarette burned the crap outta that car....made me sad. I did look at newer Hyundai's and Kia's too as i think they are getting to be as good as Hondas.
Recently for work I drove a 2015/16 (Cant quite remember) GMC Yukon Denali in South Dakota, and i think that car was awesome. would love to get my wife from her! pathfinder into that!!
Has anyone gone from a 3G TL to a 2007+ Toyota Camry or Avalon? The V6 Camrys have 270HP and are quicker than the Auto TLs I heard. I'm wondering how the comfort compares to the TL. And Avalons I think would be very nice and luxurious.
I still have my 2004 TL but I always wonder what I'd get when the wheels fall off my TL. I'm pretty well endowed so I don't need a BMW, Audi, or Mercedes to feel competent. Just want something that's reliable, fairly quick, and very comfortable.
And Avalons I think would be very nice and luxurious.
I have shopped the new Avalon. The ride quality and quite ride is several steps above the TL. The quality of the driver seat padding leaves much to be desired and is a known criticism.
...but above all else, and why I walked away, was the paper-thin, cheap plastic interior that simply cannot match the TL, even being close to a decade its senior.

Yeah I would say the 2014+ models with the 8spd tranny are low 13 second mayyybe high 12 on a good run trucks. Not so much highway beasts, but where those things are deadly is from a stop. They launch very hard. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think guys pull 0-60 runs in the 4s.
I believe they are releasing a Grand CHerokee SRT Hellcat as well :-O
they are releasing it for 2017 as a 2018 model and it's going to be badged as the Trackhawk, Dodge now has the soul rights to the srt name. also it's to be fitted with the Hellcat motor....6.2 hemi super-charged goodness That's what I am waiting for, I'm still keeping the tl-s as my son now has his license and it'll be almost a secondary car if I decide that
So after looking on-and-off for about a year, I finally pulled the trigger and traded in my 2007 TL-S for a CPO 2014 Cadillac CTS Performance. With *everyone* buying SUV's - sedans are cheap now.
I really liked my Acura but I decided to move on. My TL had the most miles I've ever had on a car (126k) and it served me well. Farewell (for now), Acura and Acurazine....!

Oh wow!
Is that the AWD naturally aspirated or the twin turbo? Do tell
just my .02 but i went from a 2006 pontiac GTO 6-speed man with over 500hp, to a 2010 jeep srt-8 with same hp, to my AWD TL. im very happy with the TL except for the oil consumption issue but warranty covered the short block replacement. and the TL is the perfect balance of everything for me at least as a daily. next car will most likely be a caddy but i will keep the TL as my DD.
Any gripes besides oil consumption? I just don't care for the front of the car looking beak like, but overall I've been curious to jump in one and take it for a test drive
i think every 4g should have the beak painted to match the color of the car and the base should come with the decklid spoiler. other than that mine only has 75k mi. on it so far but i have no real complaints.
I made my account to Save for a TL. I still have my beautiful silver 08' TL, but I've recently purchased a 2007 Mercedes S550 4matic. Its definately not as fun to drive as the TL, but its gots its perks!
Had a 2003 TL which I drove till it had 327000kms...then I had a 2009 BMW 335i and had that written off thanks to a lady who was more interested in applying lipstick rather than brakes while behind the wheel.....decided to pocket the write off money and buy a 2006 TL - that was fun to drive but unfortunately I had to sell it less than a year after owning it since i moved downtown and didnt need a car. 2 years later having moved back to the suburbs, I bought a 07 TL and am totally in love with my car. I got my wife a 2010 BMW X3 but I have way more pleasure driving the TL. Next up will be the TLX - having driven BMWS, Hondas, Mercedes, Nissans etc - I still feel the TL is the best of the lot, which is why I keep coming back to it

Congrats on the purchase. Was hour 2007 TL a Tech/Navi? How was the trade in experience? Were yiu offered a fair price for your TL?
Debating if I should go for the Subaru WRX or Audi S3. Coming from a 2008 TLS.
Big price difference between the two but i would go with the S3 and APR mods & tune.
Interior of the S3 and features is better than a wrx. Both cars look good exterior wise but in different ways. S3 is sporty and elegant looking. Can be considered a sleeper.
I'd be absolutely terrified of the upkeep costs on the e39 M5.
I've been eyeing both the S3 and the Golf R, but I like the R's interior better. Great potential for more power with The EA888 engine.
went out for a spirited mountain run last night with about 15 cars, way to many. I was the third car modded evo x. then in front of me 2016 golf R.
freakin fast car, to say the least i was impressed, handled really well.

I see this a lot and not quite sure why folks feel that way but if you stick with an 02 or 03 and keep up with the maintenance, which isnt any worse than any other performance car, its fine. I do turn my own wrenches for most of the jobs and have some other gear heads to help me but truthfully theres nothing else out there for the money.
I may have upgraded to the most boring car of any member.
I agreed to buy a CPO 2015 Volvo V60 T5 AWD Platinum yesterday.
Traded in my 2005 Acura TL for it with almost 243k miles on it. Bought it in 2008 with 42k on it.
Just hope this Volvo this as reliable as my TL....never gave me issues besides wear & tear stuff mostly.

Hope you enjoy the Volvo. How much did you get for your trade in? That is a 2005 with 243k miles? Congrats on getting such good use out of it. What all work/repairs did you have to do on the TL aside from scheduled maintenance, brakes, tires, and batteries?

I got a whooping $1200 lol. Was actually more than I thought I'd get for it with all the dents, scratches, and crappy paint. The interior is actually decent, especially the rear seats since no one really sat back there.
I was going to keep it and drive it into the ground as my commuter car, but things were starting to add up for repairs. My mechanic said since I kept up with normal upkeep, he was guessing maybe I'd get close to 400k miles on it. Still runs fine after she warms up.
It needs 2 new rear tires and a windshield replacement for my inspection sticker next month.
Then, it needs a tune-up soon, transmission flush, shocks/struts replaced all around (they're still the originals, the car ride is rough), new rear rotors again, AC compressor is starting to fail, and I can feel the transmission kick when it shifts a little.
Also, the CD player doesn't work anymore.
Finally, the car is making rattles and noises when I'm driving...but I can't complain since it's almost 12 years old with 243,000 miles on it.
Things that I replaced that aren't "wear & tear" were:
- Radiator fan fell off somehow
- 1 rear wheel bearing, maybe a front one too...don't remember
- 2 front axles
- Starter - replaced that 2 months ago and I was still using the original one. Got 241k miles out of the original, my mechanic was surprised
- Alternator - replaced that a few years ago
- 2 Stabilizer links - replaced that 2 months ago
- One rear compensator arm or something for rear alignment - Broke years ago & always needed realignment. Finally, someone told me what to replace.
Here's a pic of my TL being cleaned out of stuff so when I trade her in this Friday. As you can see the front corner there, a lady backed into my car a couple weeks ago. Probably didn't help the trade-in value. Also, towards the nose, my friend backed into it last year with his truck and the tow hook left a hole.
I was considering the TLX but I needed something with more room, so I went with the V60 wagon. I don't like SUVs
My new V60 basically looks like this. Basically has almost every option except for Blind Spot System.

Wow...she looks pretty good for 243k miles. What crappy paint? Looks fine from the photo. Sounds like things were very recently starting to go. You got more than your moneys worth with that car.
I'd like the TLX, but Acura needs to do some serious updating with the Infotainment, making Acurawatch available, and the V6 tranny.

For how old & the miles, she looks good. But there are issues.
The front end is all pitted with rocks from highway driving and hitting pigeons in the city.
The paint is wavy in some parts due to previous hits.
There is rust starting to develop around the fenders.
Things were finally starting to add up with replacements. Basically more economical to get a newer car than fix this one. Also, wanted something AWD for the winters up here.
One of my relatives bought the TLX when it came out & it had a tranny issue. She had to bring it back in to get fixed.
Thanks. Nice Audi.
I was looking at a 2012 A4 Avant..the last year they were made, but couldn't find one with the prestige package.
My brother has the A4 Avant with that package and it's nice.
Everyone upgrading to Audis I see. I was thinking an A4 too, but I really needed something with some space, but no SUV like I said.
