Well, my brother told me about this possibly happening a couple weeks ago but I was of course, sworn to secrecy. The series returns Labor Day weekend after the Boston race got canned. Here he is making the announcement and fielding questions from the press.

Cool. I attended my first IndyCar race a few weeks ago when they returned to Phoenix after 10 years away. It was fun.

Crazy what happened in Boston. Make an announcement that the race is on, and then two month later cancel it.

 

the promoters pulled the rug out from beneath Indycar. My brother was the first person Indycar contacted. It was interesting to watch my brother's reaction to the question about 2017--Indycar had a very difficult financial structure to meet which is why the Glen let the series go elsewhere.
