How much can i get, where to sell?

Hello guys i have a 2012 MDX Advance Clean with 40,000 miles brand new tires Factory warranty until October 2016.

I purchased the car back in December of 2015 thinking i would be using it more for my business and family outings but i am not and have a love hate relationship with the truck not to mention the poor GAS mileage and don't want anymore payment. I am coming from a 2006 RL. and was spoiled...I currently owe $18,300 to the bank on the MDX and pay around $298 a month and wanted to know if CARMAX would be a good place to resell or private party. I am thinking of getting back into a 2010 RL with 100,000 miles but i would own it outright.

thanks for your help

I'd attempt to private sell first... If that doesn't pan out, then consider a dealer

i would think autotrader, cars.com, craigslist, and of course this forum.

Also, don't forget carvana.com will offer a price for your car as well.

What didn't you like about the MDX, other than gas mileage?

I can understand the MDX being too big and drinking too much gas if you are not using it as a hwy hauler. I've started the process of looking for something smaller and improved mpgs since the kid will grad from H.S. next week and no more cross country track/field meets. The only traveling wife and I will be doing is to his college meets in the west/southwest states and a sedan/coupe/CUV would work perfect. I'm waiting until the +17 TLX comes out because I'm hoping for Acurawatch to be standard for all trim levels and the transmission issues are worked out by then. I will still keep my MDX until the Acura care warranty is gone in about another 3 1/2 yrs and/or 120k (75k now).

I got offered $26,000 from CARMAX today! valid for 7 days i have $8000 in equity and will not get anything decent for that. The 2010 Rl in around $10,900 I was hoping for $28500 on the MDX after seeing them selling a beat up 2012 non advance poor condition for $26800

'10 RL for $10900? They don't seem to hold value like I'd expect them too

Welcome. They have been around for a couple of years. Started in the atlanta market by venture capitol. They have even advertised during the super bowl. They have steadily increased inventory. I have noticed they obtain their inventory via dealer auctions, off lease, and some rental cars. They heavily market their great customer service.

[QUOTE=Mr.Tea;15743352]Where would be the best places to list for private party ?[/QUOTE

Don't sell yourself short.
$29,955 is the dealer auction value for a 2012 Advance w/o res and 40k miles.

$31,200 is the dealer auction value for a 2012 Advance with res and 40k miles.

Go to Kelly Blue book dot Com and see what it recommends for a Private Sale price.

Go to auto trader dot com, start the process of listing your car (but don't pay). You'll get to the point where you will be asked to choose a price. Look for a tab that offers you recent sales thru autotrader.

I expect that you can list it and sell it on autotrader for $1,500 to 2,000 more than the above listed auction values.

Got any pictures of it? I might be interested. I don't really like the new ones, and I wouldn't mind getting a newer 2nd gen with half the mileage.

Good job, on your $3,500 savings.

Carmax offered you $26,000
Carvana offered you $28,000
You priced it at the dealer auction $29,500 price and sold it in 3 days.

You might have made another $1,000, but the point is that it is gone and over with.

Wow, this would have been perfect for me. Was looking at a '13 advance @ $32k CPO at the dealer. Great price you got there. Did a member bought it from here? just curious.
