Question navi trunk replacement???

Could someone shed some light on this.? 2002 TLS navi. I have issues with my navi where I can't put more than 3 letters in the main front unit without it freezing. I can use previous destinations but cannot put in anything new.
I thought buying one from eBay would solve this issue. However the one I bought doesn't have a code. And the person who sold it says it doesn't hold the code when inputted. He his that in his listing pretty well. So am I up shits creek with the one I bought.?
I'm hoping that the person inputted the wrong code and I can retrieve it from dealer or something. Is it possible?
If all fails , maybe I can swap some parts from my old one to this one. Any ideas on what parts are swapable?
Thx for any info on this.

Are you saying your new unit doesn't have the anti theft feature that requires the 4 digit pin code when power is cut to the navigation unit?

I am saying I do not have the 4 number code to unlock it. I bought it off of eBay and that guy said he doesn't have the four number code? He said it was returned by a customer. I'm unsure if this is true. Is there a way to get the code without Vin and seriel number matching?

i may have jumped the gun

When I connected my old unit and put in my old code I tried it went through its setup. It couldn't find a GPS signal but after I was able to use input like normal. However, there seems to be some lag on where I am and where it is displaying on the screen
Turns are way off. I am assuming due to the setup not being able to calibrate with a GPS signal. So my question is, how do I get it to run the setup again ? It stated to disco the battery for 30 min and then input code. Is there another way to have it run the setup again? Maybe disco the power to unit again ? What do you think?

Btw .That link will only work if the Vin and serial match . Unfortunately, mine would be different since it came from a different vehicle. Acura has to know by now that people use junk parts. The car is over 14 yrs old.

So will the GPS eventually just calibrate itself and I don't have to disco the battery? I should just drive around for about a mile and then try to input a destination?

Go to the dealership and ask the sevice advisor if they can trace the vin through the navigation unit's serial number. Bring the unit with you and explain your situation.

They have all the info you just need to contact the right person.

Yes it's worth a shot, drive the veh. Head west young man. Lol

So here is what I did with my old one to get it to work. I parked in a good location that i can receive signal. I then disconnected the power and GPS from the trunk gps box for over 30 min. I let it sit for a few hours for reassurance that it would reset the GPS to reboot. It may be shorter I can't verify. Then I reconnected the power and GPS wires to the box in the trunk. I started the car, put in my code and let the GPS reboot. It then tells you to sit and wait for GPS to gain a signal. After roughly 10 min it goes into the reg navi mode and everything worked for me. As for the navi box I got from eBay it will be used for parts maybe later down the road.

For anyone that runs into this thread, I was able to get the code off of an Acura rep. With my name, address, the full unit serial and my vin.
