Thanks man!
So I made a bit of a spur of the moment purchase today, found it listed on craigslist for 280$, offered him 240$ to pick it up tonight and he took it... I'm pretty busy these next few weeks, unfortunately won't have the time to devote to the install until the last weekend this month

I would be wary putting it before the amp (for anyone considering it).

So the last month has really got me exhausted and hasn't left me much time to tackle any of the projects I wanted to. My car has spent more time sitting in an airport parking garage than my own over the last month lol. The MS-8 is still sidelined, waiting for me to install it. I did, however, have to get my center console re-wrapped. It developed the infamous tear on the driver side since I do tend to lean on it a lot. I was able to get that re-wrapped with leather and had it double padded for comfort since I had it off

*Insert wood joke here* Got this for a whopping 154$ shipped from LKQ. It's an MMC accessory wheel, I just couldn't resist the price The buttons are in slightly better shape than mine. The volume and cruise Set buttons were starting to show use marks on my original wheel so this solves that issue I plan on holding onto my stock wheel but if anyone gives me an offer I can't refuse, I'll gladly part ways with it
Side not, but damn that wood gets hot if it sits in the sun!! I'm still working out the details of my MS-8 install as well

LKQ is actually a national junkyard/recycler. You can google them and find the nearest location This one I snagged off an eBay listing they made for it.
Pretty good suggestion

I think the TL stock paint sets it off better, but that is 100% better than chrome.
Looking again, it may just be the lighting that isn't doing justice. Can we get a shot with full sun on the car?

Thanks guys!! For some reason it appears darker in pictures I'm taking then it does in reality. The pictures of it off the car are from the guy who did the work. It's probably the closest thing to the TL Aspec wheels you'll ever get in reality And for the sharp eye you will notice I have some matching centercaps. Sadly enough, I had to refer back to my own DIY on here to remember exactly how I did the painting last time

23190VC picked up some painted RL ASpecs that I think were a bit closer to the TL paint. Again, no matter how dark/light, painted looks better than chrome IMO.

yes I did! I scored mine of Craigslist! but I know where the guy I got them from obtaine dthem... it was an online place that refurbished OEM wheels... if you google for refurb OEM wheels there are places that take old dinged / curbed wheels and redo them. they refinish the TL a-spec RL wheel in a color that looks more like what the TL A-spec wheel looks like... i liked it a lot better than the chrome finishes that came on the RLs... it loosk sportier.
they are relativelyh cheap to buy IIRC... way cheaper than buying them from the dealer.

So I noticed something last night on my way home: the +/- signs on the paddles of the wood grain wheel are lit with the same lighting as the volume/cruise buttons. I'm not sure if the KB1 wood grain wheel has that, but I do know the factory wheel didn't have that. I guess I never noticed it because the buttons line up with the dash lighting which outshines it, and because those buttons are so dimly lit compared to everything else. Small details right?

The KB1 accessory was just a wheel frame and grip. All buttons and paddles had to be swapped over.
Pics?
Pics?

Decided to go for some extra security on-board. In addition to the safety of recording any potential accident, I figure this also forces me to drive safer since I know everything I do is being recorded. Install day is next Saturday, I'll post pics of the final setup. The goal is to make this as discreet as possible while maintaining 100% functionality.

Dash cam is in!
I just started looking over some of the footage now. My initial impressions of this camera are pretty good. The software is relatively easy to use. The LDW and Front crash warning are extremely annoying. I decided to turn LDW off completely and leave the FCW on minimum sensitivity.
As far as how it records, it does one minute snipets. The front and rear camera files are separate. The quality seems pretty good, however I did notice looking at some of the footage that the rear camera quality does drop more significantly that the front one at night. Will probably put together a video for you guys once I free up

If anyone's interested, here is some footage. At first is daytime, you can fastforward to 1:00 for nighttime footage.

I think mine are a tinge darker (based on the pictures) and the finish is what sets the TL A-Spec wheels apart.

Type-S and ASpec wheels are different. Type-S are like gun metal. ASpec are a silver.

007 You might know what I'm talking about, but there was a thread in the TL section that referred people to a shop in the northeast that gave a near 100% match to the Aspec paint? I tried searching but it seems to have been buried now... I remember finding it, and the logistics of shipping back and forth is what stopped me.

did you get the wheels clearcoated too?

Few updates: with the light winter we've been having, I've been alternating between my Camry and the RL. Mostly leaning on the Camry though. I got 3M crystalline installed on the windshield. With the RL being my summer only car, heat is an issue and the fact that the windshield was untinted was a problem for me even though it's garaged. So far I'm really pleased with the performance of the crystalline film, I don't even notice it's there when I'm driving. By far the best film you can get and absolutely NO visual disturbances unlike Llumar Air 80 which seems to have some reported issues as far as visual distortions on some windshields.
I also decided to get a dedicated winter tire for my second set of A-spec wheels for the temperature factor. The RL doesn't get driven in salt and snow, but I did Michelin X-Ice's strictly for the temperature factor. I also decided to get rid of the Factory HX MXM4's on the "summer" aspec wheels (the gunmetal ones) and I'm going for Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I've heard rave reviews about them. I'll report my impressions about the Super Sports when summer time rolls around! Discount tire is running a great discount for president's day so if you need tires now is the time!!

Some unexpected bad news, looks like the timing belt is getting replaced on my car. I was changing my oil when I noticed a small oil drop around the drain plus. I didn't notice any oil level drop on the dipstick, so I figured it was possible the drain plug gasket I used last time. After checking the oil consistently (car has been parked since Saturday), I didn't notice a drop lost but I did notice oil forming around the same area.
Fast forward to my trip to Drew at The Pit Shop (local Acura mad scientist), and a ride on the hoist: it's originating from under the timing belt. He's saying it's the oil pump seal since that's a common failure on the J35A8's. After searching on the TL side, I was able to confirm this is pretty common on the 07-08 TL Type S, which shares our engine...

It's a big job but hey, it's gotta be done, like you said, at least I'll be covered for another 100K which makes me feel better! I was starting to plan this repair out anyways as I'm at 85K anyways, but looks like I had to tackle it sooner than I though...

So my timing belt/water pump/tensioner/oil seals has been done. The whole ordeal rung up to 1100$ but I used all OEM parts, and included all oil and exhaust gaskets (yes, a part of the exhaust did have to be dropped to deconstruct the oil pan and remove the oil pump).
I also swapped over to my Pilot Super Sports even though it really isn't terribly warm yet. I figured no more snow and salt, and in the event of such terrible weather, I'll just do what I've always been doing and switch back to my Camry.
It's a little sad that this is my first set of pure summer tires ever. I've always had a winter set and an all-season set. I've only driven about 200 miles on these tires but I will say I can understand what all the hype is about!!! These things really complement the AWD system on our car well! I want to hold off on a full review until the weather warms up and I can fully test these tires the way they were designed.
On an unrelated update in regards to the infamous Takata airbag recall. I decided to open a case today with Honda. They agreed to provide alternate transportation for anyone affected by this recall and I decided to take them up on it. I won't know anything for sure until next week, but based on my discussion with my case manager so far, they are willing to provide me with A vehicle until parts become available. This process would also entail me signing some kind of paper saying I won't hold Honda liable for any airbag issues while I have an alternate vehicle supplied by them. I'm just hoping Honda doesn't consider a Focus as an acceptable alternative to an RL!!!

FYE.... not even 10 seconds into the video, watch the Malibu on the right... Nothing terrible, and no visible damage to either car...
