I've had my TLX for about a month now and I love it. The only thing I have done to the car was convert the rear turn signals to LED using VLED's v3 Triton system. They are amazing and are very bright. Anyway I wanted to know if anyone knew the exact bulb size for the front turn signals, I also want to convert those to LED but I can't seem to find any information about the bulb other than it being listed as pwy24. I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, I've searched the forum but couldn't seem to find anything. Thanks.

Owners manual will list the bulb size or use Sylvanias online bulb guide.

Had any luck replacing the backup lights with a bright LED?
the owners manual was no help. It lists rear turn signal as "21w" but I know it's a 7440 bulb. Acura usually uses 1157 for front turn signal but the TLX has a different bulb that I have never seen before.
I haven't converted the backup lights yet, but I do plan on doing so. They're too dim

I replaced mine with 30W 7440/3 Cree LEDs that put out 720 Lumens. They are nice, and bright; exactly what I wanted. They have a Cree LED facing rearward, and 4 small LEDs facing forward that bounce of a cone shaped reflector. They look, and function so well that my wife wanted them in her MDX as well.
I changed out the trunk, and door panels to high power 5W LED's as well. Those are just 194 bulbs.
Not sure about the turn signals as I don't want them to flash any faster than stock, and I am not sure I want to use resistors.

Thanks for the info. I will look into changing my backup lights. I will have to check out my trunk light now that you mention it.

You'll need to remove the taillights (Remove 2 caps, 2 bolts, then pop out the lights) Install the bulb in the original socket, and now if you don't want the hyper blinking, you'll need to install the resistors. Again, no room behind the taillights, so you'll need to pull back the trunk lining behind the taillights, and pull the wire harness through to inside the trunk. To locate the correct wires ( if i remember correctly, the drivers side is blue, and passenger is orange) pull back the wire loom, and tap into the correct wires using the wire taps included with the resistors. On the drivers side, ground the resistor to one of the bolts used for the manual gas tank pop, and on the passenger side use the factory ground bolt used for other grounds. Use some double sided sticky tape to secure the resistors to the car (metal part only, these resistors can get hot and you don't want to melt anything!) Now pull the wire harness back through, and reseal the seal (just line up the grooves on the seal correctly, very easy) and reinstall the taillights. Now you've got LED turn signals with no hyper blink!

For the backup lights, just change out what's there with these?1000 Lumen? I guess heat is no concern? Personally, I think I will just change out the backup lights. Still need to investigate the trunk light. Thanks again.
With the electronic tranny, you can't just put it in ACC II, pull the e-brake, and put it in reverse. As soon as you open the door, it goes back to Park. Since it is drizzling, the wife wasn't interested in the assist, so I took pics of the MDX.
The bulbs were less than $20 on fleabay.
The trunk light is actually white, but my cell phone made it look blue. It is the typical white LED hue. These were only a few bucks

Curious to know your opinion on the output of LED reverse lights. I have upgraded min to the JMD High Power ones that are approx. 1000lms and the light back and up not down and back so the light out put to the things on the ground behind you is worthless for backing up. The brake lights are more effective in illuminating items in reverse. This is the second vehicle I have from Acura with this poor design. We also have a 2012 MDX with high power reverse LEDS. I had to purchase the VLED licensee plate bracket with 10 high-power LEDS to get adequate light behind the MDX. May look into purchasing VLED update license plate revers lights to solve this but no wanting to play with a brand new 40K car yet.

Very nice. Thanks for the effort. Guess I need to upgrade. Seems like 720 lumens is enough light.
I did use the Triton system, at first I was stuck because as others have said there is no space behind the tail light.
I had to mount the v3 box by removing the bumper (not the whole bumper, just enough to get my hands in there) and was then able to mount the v3 box down there. I'll see if I can post pictures later.
oh I also forgot to mention that after very heavy research I found that the front turn signals are a new type of bulb manufactured only by Sylvania. Only a few cars have them, mostly Volkswagen and Audi. So as far as i know there is no decent LED bulb for the front turn signals on the TLX
A big thanks to Acura for using the most obscure bulb they could get their hands on.

LEDS don't give off much heat, plus reverse lights aren't on but only a few seconds, which is what these particular LED bulbs were designed for (The HO Version). If there used in a different application (running lights or turn signals) you will void there warranty. They have turn signal and running light applications, just not ones that are 1000 lumens.
Found some awesome LED's for the front turn signals, there called WeissLicht LED. They use white CREE Leds, have a lifetime warranty, and require no resistors, so these are plug and play with no hyper flash. These bulbs are commonly used in BMW and Audi, and the size is PW24W

I was told that any LEDs where they don't geling void the warranty! Is this true?
Whoever told you that is incorrect, installing led bulbs does not void any type of warranty. If you tried to somehow change the jewel eye LEDs, that would invalidate the warranty on the headlight as you have to modify the original component. But just changing an incandescent bulb to led bulb will not void any warranty
I thought white turn signals were illegal in some states. They have to be amber in Maryland
Here's the Oregon revised statutes on turn signals
§ 816.120¹
Turn signals
Each of the following is a requirement for turn signals as described:
(1) Turn signals shall be so constructed and located on a vehicle as to give a signal of intention to turn right or left.
(2) The following types of turn signals shall show light in the direction indicated:
(a) Front turn signal lights shall show light to the front of the vehicle.
(b) Rear turn signal lights shall show light to the rear of the vehicle.
(3) The following types of turn signals shall have the color of light indicated:
(a) Front turn signal lights may be white or amber.
(b) Rear turn signal lights may be red, amber or yellow. If the rear turn signal is red, the motor vehicle was manufactured before 1959 and the turn signal is combined with the taillight in a taillight assembly, the assembly may contain an insert as described under ORS 816.080 (Taillights).
(4) Turn signals shall be understandable in normal sunlight and at a distance of 500 feet at night.
(5) Turn signals that are required under ORS 816.320 (Lighting equipment required for motor vehicles) and 816.330 (Operation without required lighting equipment) must be mounted, adjusted and aimed in accordance with the standards adopted by the Department of Transportation.
(6) Turn signals that are required under ORS 816.320 (Lighting equipment required for motor vehicles) and 816.330 (Operation without required lighting equipment) and any part for such turn signals that tends to change the original design or performance must be of a type that complies with standards adopted by the department under ORS 816.010 (Authority to adopt and enforce standards for lighting equipment). Does the vendor you mentioned in an earlier post make amber LED bulbs for the front, and/or red bulbs for the rear? I'd be definitely interested in that.
Doesn't look like it, amber/white rear, white front. You could always email them and ask though.
Heres a vender that sells cheaper ones, they don't use the CREE LEDs, or have a lifetime warranty, and not sure if resistors are needed, but they have a yellow front option.
Those look great Silvaccordex01! Did you change any other bulbs on your car like the door leds or the reverse lights?
Door lights were changed, inside trunk light, reverse lights and rear turn signals. Everything that wasn't led from the factory is now. I explained the bulbs used in an earlier post in this thread

Thanks for the info. I have used V-LEDS products in the past, and was wondering if you could please post some pictures of the reverse lights, trunk, and the door lights. I saw that you went with the 6k reverse lights. Did you go with 6k for the doors and trunk also? For the 7440 reverse bulbs, do you think the V-LEDS would be brighter, or a 7440 bulb Spektrum bulb? Thanks for the info in advance and sorry for all of the questions!
Just bought a set for the parent's MDX to use as brake lights. Haven't had the chance to install them yet, but they seem pretty high quality. Has a 12 year warranty, and apparently they are the only street legal led bulbs. Trying to find a set in amber, but I don't think they make those yet. These are way cheaper than the tritons.

I just installed one yesterday for the High mount stop light on my 05 TSX. I did not have to much time to play with it (cold) but it is much brighter than most other LED bulbs that I have tried in the past. It might not be as bright as the Tritons which I use for the stop lights, but they are about the same size as the regular 7443 or 7440 incandescent bulbs.
Hi Silvaccordex01,
I just received the front turn signal LED bulbs from weisslicht and installed on bulb in the front left and I have hyper blinking only when u use the turn signal. When u turn on the hazards it does not hyperblink. did you put in resistors for the rear turn signal LED's? Just trying to trouble shoot why I am getting the hyperblink and u are not.
Thanks for the information about the bulbs and any help would be appreciated.
I did not put in resistors in the front, but i did in the rear. The ones in the rear though are 6 ohm, and only cover 1 bulb per side, per v-leds description, so the fact i have them for the rear turn signals shouldn't be affecting the front. If you want to cover both front and rear signals you need the 3 ohm resistors, but shouldn't be needed, as those weisslicht bulbs should be error free. My suggestion would be to call the vendor you got the bulbs from, and see what they say. They will probably send you another set.
If you don't want to do that, do you have LED Turn signals in the rear? If so, you should just order some resistors in 3 ohm that cover front and rear. Install the resistors in the rear of the vehicle by the rear tail lights. If you just do front LED's, get the 6 ohm resistors, but still install in the rear of the vehicle.
Thanks for the information. I called the vendor (Bimmian) and he said I should replace the original flasher signal relay to an electronic flasher relay instead of adding resistors. I tried to find the relay for that in the car in the manual and I was not able to find it. On some of the newer cars they do not have relays for the signals anymore they may be built into the main computer controller. I even called Acura parts to see if they could find the relay for the signals and they were not able to find it in the parts catalog. Part of the issue may be that the car is still new and no one ordered that part yet. How difficult is it to add the resistors to the front if I were to go that route? Any help would be appreciated and thanks for getting back to me with the information.
I'm surprised they wouldn't send you a new set, since there advertised to not cause any hyper blinking (or issues with error codes if you own a BMW)
As far as resistors, add them to the rear of the vehicle behind the rear tail lights. Much easier that way. Just follow the directions i posted earlier in this thread.
