Those with lack of power/surging in hot weather...
The battery definitely helped. After the newness wore off I started noticing surging and a lack of power again. It never got as bad as it once was, definitely improved.
Since then I've blocked off the EGR which helped the part/low throttle power. I also found a bad factory crimp on the charging wire that goes from the fuse box to the positive battery terminal. I didn't find the problem until after I replaced the factory alternator and the new one starting running super hot. I found the problem connection by running my fingers along wires until I found a spot that took some skin off from the heat. I re-crimped it and the alternator runs much cooler and the car runs the best it's ever run. Today was 95 degrees and there's the normal power loss from hot weather but no surging and no more flooring it just to keep up with traffic. It turns over so much faster now. Looking back on it the car turned over really fast when I first got the new battery and it slowly degraded over a couple months. Now it's back to where it was when I got the battery.
My keyfob memory started working again and it hasn't worked in a year. The idle is smoother I think partially because it doesn't have an alternator at full output all the time sucking 3hp from the engine. I also notice that when the AC fan cycles on and off the rpms no longer dip like it's going to kill the engine. Interior lights are brighter. It just feels like a different car. I think the last time it actually ran right was the summer after I bought it in '06.
I doubt the crimp is a problem, it's probably a one off thing. What I did to find it was start the car with it dead cold and the hood up. Let it run for a couple minutes and shut it off. Besides the pain, I was happy when I found the extremely hot connector, I knew I had found at least one problem.
I know the battery helps but I'm not sure if it's the battery itself or the fact that it might be better charged right from the store than it will be after a couple months of being in the car.
It's also hard to say what's the EGR blockoff and what's the charging wire. I think the EGR was causing some of the bogging feeling under part throttle in hot weather and the low charging compounded the issue. The surprising thing is any trace of pinging is gone even at full throttle where the EGR does not operate.

I'm going to write a book. It's going to be called "just wait a little while". Truth always comes out.

How do you know its turning faster? Did you count the RPM's or something? That's what you said to me. http://wwtl.acurazine.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=862790

It's pretty easy for anyone with half a brain to hear how quickly the engine is turning over on the starter. You don't meet this qualification so I suggested other means for you.
You going to chop up my sentences to make them say somthing else entirely? You're reaching when you have to alter my sentences in order to criticize them. I would expect an adult (if you can call 135lbs an adult) to be able to comprehend a whole sentence but you cut it off right where I lost you. Try to keep up Chad, you're embarrassing yourself.
I'm not having the same type of issues as others here but my current battery is old and weak. The Die Hard Platinums are on sale now at Sears so I might grab one.
IHC - I saw in one of your earlier posts in this thread that you got a 35 instead of the 24. Was there any specific reason for that? My apologies if I missed it in the thread.

Alright guys.....we're getting personal here......
Chad, IHC....let's stop the bickering-fair warning......ONE WARNING.
NFN, as far as the Zero Tolerance Policy goes-I think it's fair to give everyone one warning....even you!
I mean, you've got to have some leniency on a guy who's Avatar still has Santa hats in it, right?

Now that the thread has derailed I'll chime in, I don't have that specific issue but when I had a cheaper battery my idle did surge a bit, swapped to a Die Hard Platinum after having to jump it twice months later and the idle is smoother, overall the engine feels smoother. DHP is an excellent battery but there is something to be said that improving aspects of the charging system will cure some of these issues even if it seems like it shouldn't.
Well that's all good to know. What are you guys paying for the DHP batteries?
Also, it seems like places will tell you that the battery needs replacing way before they really need to be. For example, Homda has been telling my wife the battery in her 04 Accord needs to be replaced for the last couple years. Those morons. And the one in my acura they have been saying for months now, but it doesn't show the slightest sign of being week.

Yeah, $220ish out the door.
As for the size, I just eyeballed it which was a mistake but it fit.
My friend just recently put one in his GN because the aftermarket fans were running after the ignition was turned off for about 15 minutes and killing the battery. With the DHP you can't tell a difference in starting speed when the fans run for 15 minutes and when they don't. The reserve on these is excellent.
As for the rest of the BS, I don't understand why one member who has never contributed anything to Azine is allowed to come in and purposely screw up a good thread. In fact, that's all this member does is screw up good threads. If we're playing that tired old game I can rip apart 90% of what he posts with ease while contributing nothing and disrupt any chance of information sharing while breaking no rules but I don't. I've almost entirely stopped correcting his gross misinformation because others do it instead. I don't post in peoples threads just to pick a fight and shit on the thread.

I've heard that the Optimas can be inverted while the Platinums can be run on their side but not inverted. Not sure how much truth there is to this because I don't know anyone who has done either.

Sorry Matt.. My wife had to go to Taiwan for three weeks so we cancelled our yearly trip.. my sister and brother-in-law we're pretty upset. We are headed to SF in August. If you head back to Vegas, let me know.

Matt, since you frequent this thread, I took this picture on my way back from a work road trip. Thought to snag it for you:

Thanks!
Actually, funny enough...I did...I lit him up by about 10 cars. He's like, is that a Honda?!?! I said, NO FKER...IT'S AN ACURA and punched it...he had no idea what hit him.
Then I woke up and my underpants were soaked and sticky...
