I was nearing the time to get new tires (prob @ 6 months out depending on driving habits), so I elected to upgrade rims/tires and sell my old ones. At the end of the day I should spend about what I would've for a new set of higher end tires.

There is a market for the OEM 19" wheels so you may want to consider this as well. Buying a new set of tires is so damn expensive, why not do it a bit sooner than needed and get some "free" rims, haha.

I am extremely analytical when it comes to my purchases. I looked for quite some time to see what I liked and was set on 10 spoke and loved the concave look. Fortunately I came across these wheels at a local dealer and the price was in my range. Thanks for the compliment!

Needs a drop. Lower profile tires on big wheels without a drop gives it a 4x4 look...

Otherwise, the car is excellent. The drop will make it perfect.

it's all subjective, and there is a VERY fine line between what looks "upgraded" and better, and what looks ricey and/or ghetto... when I think ghetto.. I think a car that looks poorly upgraded, trashy, and as if someone with no class/taste just threw some money/mods on the car and ruined the asthetics of the car. sticking massive giant pizza dish sized wheels on a car makes it look ghetto. there is a point where wheels get too big... and again, it's subjective.

personally, I think 20" is as big as one should go on the TL, anything larger is just too big. But it all depends. the OP wheel's in this thread have a lip.. and wheels with a lip don't look as big as wheels lacking a lip.

A mild drop would not make the car look ricey or cheap - it would give it a more aggressive and more sporty look. the wheel gap that is there now is MORE pronounced because the wheels/tires are more low profile.

anytime you take a car, with wheel gap... and you lower the sidewall width.. it visually draws more attention to the gap around the tire. it just does. so a TL with stock 18s.. that suddenly gets upgraded to 20s.. and the overall circumference of the tire/wheel setup does NOT change.. it makes the exact same sized wheel gap look larger. i don't know why... maybe some psychologist or perception expert can explain it.. but it does.

OP - throw some H&Rs on there. seriosly. it would cost you $200 in springs, and antoerh $150 in install. you wilsl be a tad lower, your ride will be hardly any different, and your car will look 100% better.

but it's the OPs car.. if he doens't want it.. it's his busines.. ihtink the car looks good the way iti s.. but it would look better lowered.

You know what makes a car look ghetto - more inches of wheel well gap than inches of tire sidewall.

Putting 20s on a TL with 35 series tires and then having four fingers of gap looks awful. It's harder to tell on this car because everything is dark. I had my 20s on for about a week and felt like an idiot rolling around on them before I dropped it. Looks infinitely better now - and no it didn't "mess up the ride" at all.

I was leaving a parking lot this past weekend, pulling out into traffic. It had a steep decline and was a single lane exit so I couldn't really go down at an angle. This was one of the MANY times I was glad not to be lowered because I would've scraped like crazy.

I want to drive without worrying about every little dip, bump, dead animal, entrance / exit, etc. IMO the slight enhancement in appearance is not worth all the extra headaches that come along with it.

It drives me insane when I see people driving 2 mph because they're slammed to the ground. I don't want to be one of those people. I want to be the one that flys by them with my 4x4.

Just figured I'd mention that this is generally the case, but since my wheels have a lip and are concave the spokes don't "sit in" a few inches as most wheels with a lip do. Because of this they don't really look any smaller than 20's with no lip.
