Sunset Bronze Mica TL
Sunset Bronze Mica TL
Finally got my setup complete. The question now is: To drop or not to drop? I don't want to lose comfort but I do love dropped cars. Does anyone have a setup for suspension that actually rides better than stock? I am all about comfort and could care less about better handling.

Jaimz, I love the color-it reminds me of the 4G color-Mayan Bronze Pearl.
I just got H&R Springs to lower my Type S. Very nice drop and a fraction of the cost of coilovers, which is exactly what I wanted.

Ride looks SICK man! That color is sweet. As stated above, go with springs if you want a mild drop but still keep the majority of the ride comfort. I personally have TEIN H Techs and I couldn't be happier with the look & ride. They came out exactly as I planned.
The fear with Springs is the shocks going dead. If that happens then I'll probably end up getting Koni Shocks. So in the long run I minus well at the Coilovers. I rather get coilovers to raise it during the winter. Unfortunately I don't have a winter beater. Doors jams are currently not painted due to the fact that the shop estimated an additional $1,500 so I'm going to have my bro in WI do it. He paints professionally but is hecka busy. Will probably only run me 2/300 bucks for paint, supply, and a weekend of uninstalling and reinstaling the doors with prep work *sigh*. Thanks for the love guys!
Color looks great on the TL!!! If you want coilovers that are fully adjustable and wont break the bank, think about Megans. I got mine for $830 shipped and did the install myself...Very happy with them. Check my progress thread if you want more details.
really like that color on that car. The only other color change I like is vipTL's (I think that's his user name) purple color. There are a few white ones out there but TL already comes in white so that's not a big deal.
Is that a custom mix or is it some other car manufacturer stock color?

Wao moved from ASM to "that unique color" was quite a change! Looks great, with a drop and tinted windows will be perfect.
For the suspension, there's too many options available, and everyone will like the one they have; so define your budget and move from that point with your evaluation, my
I don't really have a budget other than 2k max. I'll probably have to settle for camber kits and get an alignment too. Not quite sure how much I want to drop in terms of measurements but I don't want the fenders to tuck over the wheels. I'm just concern with rubbing when I turn. So if the max is 2.5 inches w/o rubbing then i'll do it. Unfortunately I didn't think about my drop much when it came to tire size because I purchased 245/40/18 tires. Now that I think about it I should have probably gotten 235/35/18 but comfort might be an issue with those.
I don't care too much for ability to adjust shock. Again I just want a soft ride. I heard the tl basics were pretty soft. I might settle for those. But if a drop with springs Like H&R is softer than coilovers then I'll probably settle for that.
Does anyone run on Tein SS on the softest setting in comparison to stock ride? If that's on par and better than the Basic then I'll go that route. Or even the Megans if they are soft enough.

megans are comfortable, I have em as my daily
fyi - soft setting doesnt equal soft ride...
it feels under-dampened(?)
I have mine set 10clicks from soft all around and it feels very drive-able for daily.. may even turn it a lil stiffer

My out of pocket costed $1,200. Overall the job cost about 5k. Went to a bar and didn't notice till the next morning someone had keyed the entire car except for the top. My deductible was $500 but I gained an extra $300 from keeping the tail lights. Cost an extra $700 to paint the entire car and an additonal $300 to wet-sand the entire car. I got a steal on the wet-sand deal. Shop said they should have charged about 1k because it took two days to complete. First time they did an entire car. =)
Thats actually pretty damn nice I like it. Here is what I would do and I feel that I have pretty good taste (ofcourse everyone would think that about themselves), but to keep the car clean without making it too tacky.
The dark grey a-spec wheels are perfect...do not change those. I would get OEM type S tail lights, Type S rear markers (to match the fronts), black the chrome piece in the headlights, tint the car with 35% all around, and lastly a nice reasonable drop. do not slam the car as thats going to just throw everything off.
