Power Steering Pump
Power Steering Pump
I need to swap in a new pump. I was hoping someone might know if I have to change the belt as well and what size the belt might be? Also I have heard that you need a pulley puller to get the old pump out. Does anyone know if this is true or if it is one piece? And finally how much power steering fluid will I need to get? Thanks alot.
You Should replace the belt. If you are replacing the pump, why not spen the 15 bucks on a new belt. No puller is needed. And as for fluid, all depends on if you flush the system or just replace the pump.
You need to remove the side engine mount to replace the PS belt. Its not bad, but have to put a jack under the engine and there is a small 6mm bolt under the mount that was a pain to get to.
One thing to make sure of is not over tightening the belt. I over tightened mine when I did my timing belt which is why I needed to change my pump... The pump itself was easy though.

Thats not necessary. The passenger side mount is not a weight bearing mount. If for some reason it is supporting your engine, your front and rear mounts are shot.

Instructions are in the service manual. Its the same for the TL so you can use the digital TL service manual that someone post on here.
Basically you take out the fluid in the tank (i used a turkey baster) and pull the return hose. Then you put that hose in a bottle and fill the PS tank with new fluid. Have someone start the car and turn the wheel lock to lock and that will flush the system. I used about 3 bottles of Honda/Acura fluid.
