I didn't see the answer anywhere.....

Is it necessary to cut the 04-06 bumper between the exhausts (all of it) when adding this 07-07 type-s aspec? or is it possible to just widen the current exhaust cutouts by an inch or so to the outside and 3 or so to the inside?

The first seven photos tell you the answer on page 1. You need to cut the entire lower half to make room for the grill mesh insert area on the Aspec skirt. Keep the excess that you cut off and use that to secure the bottom of the skirt to the car.

You don't have to cut it. I did that and just widened the exhaust ports and kept the middle section of the bumper intact. So you can see the bumper through the hole.

Here's mine with the base exhaust. It also doesn't have the middle cut out.

Looks ok.. but I think it would look better if you blacked out the bumper behind the lip at least..

Yeah, not too bad! Is that the only lip kit or is there one that looks like the 04-06 A-SPEC that fits on the 07-08 base bumper?

That's what it will look like if you don't trim the bottom middle section out. You still need to trim around the exhaust. If I get called off of work today I am doing this mod tonight.

well it leaves u the ability to retain the bottom attachments from the bumper to the car. u can always paint it later or add something.

Guys, do what I did and cut the bottom part off. Then use the part you cut off to attach the type s skirt back to the underside of the car like the other member said on a few posts back.. Get some mesh and fill the hole in black to finish the look. No offense to the guy with the white in the bottom of the bumper but it just doesn't look right. Black and white needs to be in its right place.

If you have to really ask if you need to remove the bumper, do you think you can handle this DIY? The bumper takes all of 10 minutes to take off the car.

Thanks guys for posting this!! Gave me hope that it could be done! Just finished my conversion also..I used the bottom of the original bumper like others have to "extend" the lip so I could use all the oem hardware. Worked out great! For the center hole I purchased a sheet of carbon fiber. I also liked the look of cars with rear reflectors in their bumper, sooo I took the stock rear oem side markers, shaved them down a little bit to match the contours of each corner and put them in the hole! I think it looks great! I could wire them up to turn on, but got lazy to. I may make them a rear fog light and wire them up to a switch!

Hope you guys like it!

can't wait to do my conversion...

i have NBP, so i'm thinking i'm not going to cut off the middle section... after i widen the exhaust opening, i will test fit the kit and kinda see how it would look.. since it's NBP, it won't be as bas as WDP (no offence to fattyburger)

I just did this yesterday on my NBP. I left the middle section and used it to sandwich the grill between the bumper and lip using some adhesive and tape. No pics of how much i cut off but i measured 3inches from the inner part of the exhaust port. well have and result photos tomorrow.

I like the idea of sticking in the shaved side markers, I might try that soon with some reflective tape

Actually, I ordered the Honeycomb grill insert from Kaleb (WholesalePartsGuy) for about $35 shipped There are no holes (not mesh). Just a plastic honeycomb piece.

I know this TL doesn't have the a spec rear, but i'm attaching it to the rear of the lip when I install it. I'm taking extensive pictures and will add to this thread when done

Does anyone know how big the TL-S tips are? I saw people buying some off ebay, but they were dual 3" tips to fit the 04-06 a spec rear. I think our cars could fit 3.5" - not sure tho.

^^ Cool....If you look at the first thread when I started it, you can see that I also attached the rear plastic from the Type-S bumper to the outside of the rear aspec lip. I had originally used zip ties to hold it in but then epoxyed it to the rear lip....Strong as can be.

Ahh, yes. I forgot to mention that I saw it somewhere before when I was doing research on this and it was from you. I'm going the epoxy method.

mmade22, would it be possible to take a shot of the extra cut piece and how its being used to fill the space between the lip + body? If not, i'll figure it out. I'm a visual guy.

can you use the OEM splash guards with the lip kit? I'm not going to keep them, but just curious since I was taking them off yesterday

Here is the pictures of the part up close. I used body screws (one on each side and then applied epoxy on all of the edges. No to the OEM splash guards. The Aspec skirt is just as wide as the mud flaps so you have no need for them.

Thanks man. that looks good and you can't even see the screw. If you have time and one more HUGE favor. Could you take a pic of the "cut extra piece" that's used to attach the skirt to the body? And could you measure one one of the exhaust tips?

If not, i know we're all busy I'm taking pictures of my install next week.

For the guys who want to put the oem mesh part into the opening, the part # is 71504-SEP-A20ZA It's called a Garnish RR. NH5
I can't seem to find this part for anything less then $40. Am i missing something here?

Yea, it's odd that you and some of the members got it for so cheap. Where exactly did you buy yours? I wonder if they'll ship it...

Acuraoemparts.com has it for $31. I checked there too. And no one is selling it on eBay or AZ.

I'll probably pick them up after the quad mod.

Funny Crow because I picked it up at my local dealer who always mark things up so I would imagine it cost more today then when I bought it. The dealer is Hendrick Acura in Charlotte, NC but I would say, buy it from the online vendor for 31. Not a bad price!

Champ! Go to a couple of body shops to see what they can do for ya. Otherwise, see if any locals in TX can help ya out.
