Didn't catch the game today but I'm glad Oakland won. Game 1 was a tough loss.

I think Roy's only issue is his injury history.

The triple play was impressive. Ball was hit right where the Yankees needed it.

He's pitched over 200 innings for the past 4 years, and will most likely do so this year too. A lot of mileage on his arm, but it doesn't seem to be affecting him.

Nice series D-Rays!
I believe that will be a more common occurrence this year in the AL east, as I think it will be more crowded at the top. Also, we dropped the "D" a couple of seasons ago and life has dramatically improved for us since. Coincidence ?

Rays win....again! David Price pitches a complete game shutout w/ 4 hits and take the series with the Jays 2-1. Congrats David

If you were to ask me who I would rather have on my team - Ryan Howard or Albert Pujols? I would take Albert Pujols because he wont strike out 13 times in the world series!

...and those who cant foresee it, a strike is going to happen sooner or later because there isn't a salary cap like the NBA. Union vs owners or owners vs the union. Again.

i'd rather see a strike and lose a season again to get a salary cap in place than continue to witness the mess the richer teams are making

I don't know. A strike really hurt baseball last time. With the current economy it could really hurt it worse. Plus no roid HR records to shatter. I am totally for a cap though.

Has anyone heard of this new "realignment plan" that will diminish divisions, pretty interesting concept, not to sure if I like it though. Here's an article on it.

There has to be something done you're right about that. Im a Mets fan and was deeply saddened when the Expos folded. I remember during the last game at Shea stadium for the Expos, a Montreal fan had a sign that read, "Hey NYC, anyone got a spare million to help our Expos?" of course, it wasn't just because of being in a smaller market, it was a combination of shady politics, businessmen and ownership that led to their demise and move to D.C. which is another story.

I hope that doesn't happen I cant see the Indians in the AL East and Bud Selig, although has created some interesting things for baseball ie. wildcard playoff berth, WBC, Interleague play(which has now lost its luster) he's done bad things for baseball as well. ie.Expos, all star game debacle, his very own Brewers, P.E.D.s and his knowledge of it...etc etc.

I don't understand why Howard was offered that much money for a contract. I really doubt he will get any better and will likely post numbers that will decline in the coming years.

Did you guys hear about the new All star game rules? the DH rule is in effect for NL host parks...which is f00king wak. I hate the DH and wish it was abolished...but of course that subject will be debated until the cows come home so here's the full article:

I can see where in the All star game it can come in handy because of the debacle in 2002 of running out of players...but honestly, i think it's cheating and it prolongs games by 30-50 more minutes. Also I feel that a baseball player should HIT. Yes, the AL is the better league compared to the NL, but honestly, ask any purist baseball fan what they prefer to watch. 70% of the time they'll say NL style as it does have more strategy and late game tactics.
But again, this subject can go back and forth as I've had on other baseball forums so let's just say it's good for the All star game

What makes you think he is going to decline? He can easily keep up those number. He's off to a great start this season, better than the last couple seasons.

plus it's an easy out which is why NL pitchers generally have better numbers

You guys are in favor of the DH? How, it ruins the strategic aspect of the game.

I haven't been following him for the past couple seasons so I've just been going off the stats that were put up the other night on tv. Whether that is appropriate, I don't know.

Guys like him can sometimes keep going for years. It's not like he's a speed who will eventually have leg problems that slow him down as he get's older. He can sit at first base and eventually DH on another team for few more years and just bash homeruns.

Yea, I know it's sometimes painful to watch pitchers bat, although guys like Johan, Zambrano and Haren are actually pretty good hitters. Haren was even used as a pinch hitter recently. And it's fun to see when pitchers do hit and drive in a few runs to help their own cause.

The thing is, with the AL and the DH there is nothing to the strategy. You just send your lineup out there and hope they hit. The NL is more involved. You have to factor in pinch hitters for pitchers depending on which point of the game you're in. Makes bullpen strategy more complex as well. It's a more intricate game in the NL.
