There's more of a desi population on here than I believed there would be! It's nuts!

Ballin, I didn't know you were desi! That's cool!

We should all meet up and have a big ass desi TL meet!

Don't worry, Al (stillhere), you can come too!

I don't like them, but then again it's not my car so what does it matter.

They remind me of those clear lenses when they first came out that on sunny days you could barley tell if they were illuminated or not cause they shined pink.

You couldn't pay me to put those on my WDP. it would take away any contrast.

looks good but white tails on a black car im not sure, i think it would look sick if you had them slighty smoked out so the white doesnt stand out so loud. ive always seen smoked or tinted tails agaisnt the stock red tails, i wonder what it would look like smoked with clear behind it instead? jus an idea.. but overall its def something different and looks good regardless

Now smoked would be a better look than clear.

Yep the tails have to be dremeled and sealed back up. Sounds pretty easy but the labor is actually pretty difficult and time consuming to get it done right.

Dammnn theres a hell of alot more desis on here than I thought too lol.

Thanks for all the compliments, and as some have said, I also think it would look better having the clear slightly tinted but its too late for that now. Im satisfied with how it looks the way it is now though anyway. Theres just a slight fog in one of the tails which means I did a bad job in sealing, and theres also been alot of rain too. I guess I should have bought the same sealant I used on my headlights as those came out perfect.

Oh and I forgot to give props to where they were due.. to the contributors of this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=custom+tails which include UA6Spec and 06WDPTL and mostly to JAZEUSTL06 for his DIY thread : https://acurazine.com/forums/religion-politics-18/bush-just-won-election-159399/

Ive been trying to get some daytime pics in the sun but I havent seen the sun out here for quite a few days already, rain sucks..

Nice.. did you do it the same exact way? and what color do you have?
And you are right, as with most things, they usually look better in person.

looks like those reflectors shine when headlights hit them
hope cops dont bother you for that (they kinda looks like your reverse lights are on)
So far the cops havent bothered me. Theres this funny story.. on Xmas day I was going to work and my brother was driving my car and we went flying past a cop doing 115mph, but the cop didnt have his radar on (I know because my radar detector didnt go off). He followed us for at least 5 miles, looking all around the car for some reason to pull us over. Then he finally pulls us over 1/4 mile ahead of some broken down car. Asks my brother for his lisence and then reverses back to the other guy and starts helping him change the tire, then comes back and waits in his cruiser for a couple of minutes. He then comes to the window and says "stop speeding you gotta knock it off, if you get pulled over by anybody in this state today im gonna take you straight to a judge." Me and my bro laughed and he walked away lol. I know that we were in the wrong, but its just rediculous of how much of an asshole the cop was to us because he wasnt able to give us a ticket.

They look pink because my park lights are on. When the brake lights shine they shine like any other 07 TL.

If you do a search for "custom tails" I followed the thread by JAZEUSTL i think thats his name.. Oh and if it wasnt for him I probably would never have done these.

how did I miss this thread? The lights look awesome, but don't flow with the Nighthawk black thats blacked out, it would look better on NBP if the headlights were cleared and the emblems were shaved. In my personal opinion it would look much better on lighter colored cars such as WDP, ASM and SSM. Something with smoked internal lenses would look good on any color.

BTW, another desi acuraziner here.

Wink G-088: DIY: Clear TailLights
These lights are TL-S 07 Tail lights outside housing modded with the clear corners and brake light cover/reflectors for the 04-06 TL Tail Lights:

Things You Need:

TL-S 07 TailLights & 04-06 TailLights
Dremel Plastic Cutting Wheel
Plastic Epoxy ... I used 5 bottles
Patience .... evry scratch will show!

Here is the dremel cutting wheel

Here is the epoxy I used, dont mix to much at one time it starts setting up in 7min.

Be carefull when cutting wear eye protection this is my faceshield:

The first cut you will need to make is along the portion of the light the you can see when opening the trunk

This will give you starting points for the sides

Now just cut all the way aroun the light being care full to stay where these cuts are:

Now befrore you do anything unscrew the two screws on the light:

Here is where the patience comes in, be very carefull pulling this apart if you feel that any one part dosent have some wiggle to it you may have to go over your cuts...you should be able to see the red plastic inside the cut. Again every scratch will show so take it easy.

Start with trying to get the trunk edge up and out then slidding the crome trim out of the clear plastic houseing:

Now this is where i got brut on my 05 red tail ligths, no need for cutting gently i wasn't keeping them:

This made life a hole lot easier, although i was still carefull not to damage the clear parts i was eventually going to use.

Now after taking the 05 tail light clear parts and putting them together with the 07 tl-s dark crome trim i started sliding the into the tl-s07 clear housing pointy side first:

after you have the trim in place you can screw the back together beging carefull not to move the light, you still have to epoxy it together.

Should you use a plastic epoxy or automotive grade sealant on the tail lights?

Feeling a little left out. I guess I'll have to start an Irish thread lol. BTW, I wouldn't put those on a white TL. Just wouldn't look right.

I know this thread is a little old, but I have been wanting to do this and I just got my second pair of tails in today. I'm pretty nervous about having to Dremel it open. Although I will definitely try it myself first,I just want to know if there is someone near Mount Airy, Maryland who would be able to help if I need it.

OMGZ! WHITE BOY RIGHT HERE!

Sorry I had to

Schweinsteiger11 good luck with the tails. Another member and I opened a set of 07-08 base tails and it was nerve racking to say the least. Just take plenty of breaks so your hand doesn't get shaky.
