Question What is the purpose for this part

Hello guys...I have a 2005 TL and just wondering why I have a round white plastic cap in my center console. It basically fills a quarter size hole above the power adaptor..and I cant figure out its purpose...can anyone fill me in?

yes that is the runoff for the A/C / heater. If you noticed when your a/c is on it turns really cold in there and could be used as a cooler

It is a light. Turn your lights on and it will light up.

I got this globe shaped thing with what look like wires inside of it hanging from my ceiling. Can anyone here help me identify this?

I read the 'WDP sighting' thread by Timmmmay right before this one so it's not my fault I'm in a fecetious frame of mind. Reading these last two threads has significantly reduced my IQ.

Then by all means allow me to furnish you with a weapon which will further reduce your IQ.

OK ok. Peace. It was all meant in good fun. Nothing to be taken seriously. It's sometimes hard to infere that from just reading text. I guess I've been spending a little too much time over in the Ramblings playground.

Hey kevtran, if your anything like me, your going to be discovering all sorts of things about this car. It's like Xmas over and over again.
There's a wealth of information on this board. I spent a lot of time on here before I picked my car up and knew a lot of stuff before hand because of it. Also, read the owners manual cover to cover. There's no way you'll remember everything but at least you'll know if a particular topic was mentioned in it should a question arise. And, as always, you can ask us here.

Exactly what I'm thinking - well, except I'm going red.

Did you find anything? The OEM part says "T5". I can't find that in Red anywhere except AUSTRALIA!!

Is there a sub? Will 194's work, ya think?

^^

There's some on Ebay. Search "LED T5 Blue" and you should find 'em. If not search using "Red" instead.

Price isn't bad (incl shipping) and they look like they'd light the space really well. But shipping from AUSTRAILIA.

I'm gonna pop that open over the weekend. I've got some 194 red wedges I'll check for fitment.

Found 'em. No way 194's work. These are MUCH smaller.

For both the Glove Box Light and the Center Storage Console Light, just pop the "plug/lens" out. The assembley is just held with a spring clip.

You'll have the light assembly connected to a little bulb holder/"wire harness".

Hold the assembly and twist the bulb holder ~1/4 turn and it pulls right out of the assembly.

Now just pull the bulb.

There's not much slack in the center console wires. The Glove Box is easier if you drop the box all the way down (not necessary, just easier.

The bulbs are #74 with a T5 base. Available at AutoLumintion and SuperBright LED's.

http://autolumination.com/74.htm (the exact replacement is the 3rd bulb down this page)

Do these LEDs fit perfectly into the socket without any adjustment? Thank you.

At the time I made those links, yes.

I don't know if the pages or bulbs have changed since then. Check the dimension listed on the sellers pages and compare to the OE (or current) bulb you have.
