Mine cracked after hitting a brutal pot hole at 75 mph. The bend on the lip was so bad it cracked. The crack you are referring to is the spokes separating from the lip. I hit a pot hole at 75 and the spokes stayed intact.

 

Mine crack from driving about 75mph hittin many bump driving to atlantic city, the frature was from half of the wheel barrell to the lip also
