yet another new wagon owner

OK, so I don't have it yet, but it arrived at the dealer last night, and we go to take delivery in 3 days. 2012 TSX wagon Tech in Vortex Blue. I first was going to have it ordered in which case it wouldn't be here for several months, but then the dealer got a wild hair and wanted to do a dealer trade over 900 miles away in El Paso, friggin Mexico just so they could get another number on the books for 2012. Turns out it had wheel locks, rear bumper applique, and splash guards which they thankfully aren't charging me for.

So here are the first pics I have of the car sent to me this morning.

First up are wheels. I have 19" RDX wheels and 19" Volk GT-C with 235/35/19 ready to put on. I don't seem to see people putting these 3G TL sized tires on their TSX, but they should at least work to test fitment. I'll probably be pulling the tires off, selling them, and getting proper 245/35/19.

Future plans:
1. 3M Crystalline tint
2. OEM or Weathertech rubber mats
3. cargo liner or preferably a custom carpet liner
4. rear sway bar
5. coilovers - 1st US wagon dropped?
6. sport steering wheel/shift knob
7. brake pad/rotor or Wilwood front kit
8. stereo: still up in the air

Congrats from a fellow new owner! Those splash guards look pretty good, I may have to look into those. Let me know if you pull the trigger on that cargo liner, I'm thinking about that as well.

Thanks, guys. I would really prefer to just get a carpeted mat with a rubber under side for the rear, but accessory places only make them for the sedan. After dealing with Infiniti and their carpet mats, they are way more practical than the plastic mats that everything slides around on. The cargo liner may not have enough weight to it to keep from sliding around. I see that Honda makes it for Europe, but it would get really expensive shipping it over to the US. I'm hoping that I can have one custom made locally.

edit: that site is awesome. Honda trailer hitches, bicycle carrier, these carpeted cargo mats, FRONT & rear parking sensors, cargo space divider. hmmmm

gorgeous. i saw a vortex tech wagon at my dealer a few months ago when we were getting my mom a car. she wanted an MDX. i told her to just look at the wagon. me and my dad loved it, my moms dream car was the MDX but we convinced her on the wagon. pricing was shit though because the tsunami so we got the MDX. i love my vortex blue sedan though. GET TINTS. it'd look gorgeous. the RDX wheels would look good, idk about the gold though. enkei razr's look sick on the vortex sedan with tints

It might be time to get some Acura representation on wagonmafia.

Here's the previous owner's old car to get an idea of the blue and gold. Having long been a Subaru fan as well as my Alma Mater's colors, they go great together.

Congrats on the wagon! I'm almost at the end of my first year of wagon ownership, and I still love the thing. Can't imagine being without it. It has far surpassed my expectations in almost every aspect.

Good luck with it

Weathertech FloorLiner DigitalFit mats are ordered. Tomorrow I'll make the appointment to get tint 40% around the sides & back, 70% windshield. Venture Shield will go behind the door handles and door edges, but I'm not sure if I want a full bumper/hood.

Now if I could just decide on coilovers...

The door handles covered is an extremely good idea, and also door edges. you do want the hood and bumper as dave has said. trust me the bumper after a couple 1000 miles will look pretty bad.

Well I guess I'll spring for the front bumper as well. All of these environmentally friendly paints are horrible.

WeatherTech doesn't make a rear cargo mat. Nobody makes any cargo area accessories besides Acura over here because there are so few of them, and I just don't like the plastic that Acura uses for the trays. I plan to talk with an auto upholstery shop to see if it can be made locally; it can't be that difficult.

I'd ask if they could use Avery Dennison Nano Fusion paint protection film. After twelve years in the business, its the best stuff I've seen by far. Venture looks great at first, but scratches easy and acid rain and bug guts stains can be a problem. I covered my whole wagon with the Nano film.

UGH! You're killin me by telling me of this unobtanium Nano Fusion. I haven't been able to find a local dealer on it, and I now found information from the region's distributor. They said that they have yet to receive any A grade material, but Avery is selling B grade material. He said that installers are then having to look through the roll and find the good areas to be able to use, and this distributor is not selling any of the B product and therefore has no contacts of Avery Dennison dealers in my area. I looked into XPEL, but I don't trust the local dealer to do a good job. So far, I might just be using the VentureShield for the installer more than the product. Still quality stuff, but I'm liking what I'm reading about these other products.

I talked to a local upholstery shop, and I was quoted $320 for a carpeted mat. For that price, I think I should be able to find a dealer in Europe willing to ship a mat overseas.

If you go that route, make sure you get a warranty card and never lose it.

Those are the stock tires. I have a set of brand new Blizzaks in the garage, but we haven't had enough snow up here to put them on yet.

clear corners do look good on white, but I just don't trust baking my headlights. As far as blacking out the grill, I actually only think that looks decent on the black cars. Maybe I'm getting used to it, or it looks better on the TSX than others, but it's not that bad to me any more.

The wagon is in the garage and tucked away for the night. Tomorrow's project is to install power seats into my manual seat M3 and install a stereo. If I can finish that, I'll throw the wheels on the wagon.

After the car was sitting at idle for an hour, driving about 15 miles in town, then 90 miles back home, I'm at 29mpg. The time at idle during delivery probably killed it, and it still did great.

I bet it would be sweet and I would definitely mod the car, but I am so far removed from how to even mod my car HA. Now when it comes to modifying my house, I am a pro at that!

Have you seen the pics of the Accord tourer with the TSX V6 wheels and Honda grill? Very nice.
