TSX1012m6

The engine on my TSX is pretty clean, but some components are rusting worse than others. Particularly one of these three bolts are very rusted. I would like to replace all three of them. I have tried to find them on Acura parts web sites, but I cannot find them. The closesest I have come to is this diagram/web site but the bolts I am looking for are not listed :/

replace them cuz of surface rust?

why not just give them a good cleaning and then paint them

One is a bit worse than surface rust. If they are a few bucks a pop, I would like to just replace them. If they looked half as good as the ones in the above photo i could care less. The bad is one orange and is a huge eye sore.

#11 is kind of hanging out and doing its own thing. Not sure what that is for, but it looks more like a nut vs a bolt. Maybe these are nuts vs bolts?

Could be one of those. What is interesting is a few of the bolts appear to head both ends threaded...

Hot diggity damn, I think thoiboi might be right! I can pop one of them off and see if it is a bolt or a nut. Wonder what the torque spec is.

if it were me, i'd still clean them and paint them, as its just surface rust and in the engine bay where NO one looks.

like. who cares if its ugly? its inside the engine bay.

Now that I know a bit more about them, its definettly worth a shot vs replacing them. Looks like its a combo of #11 and #12! Cool that was easy. Thanks guys!

I have seen now two torque specs under 2 digits such as the one for these bolts but I have never found a torque wrench in that low a torque range. I ran into this when installing the TPMS sensors on my Aspec wheels. At that time I basically hand tightened them and told the tire shop to make sure they were on properly.

What do you do in this case if you actually want to torque to spec?

^its super super light. you'll know if you over torque when the bolt strips.

What to do? Get the right torque wrench!

8.7 ft-lbs is ~104 in-lbs.

Snap-On QD1R200 does 40 - 200 in-lbs

Any lower than 40 in-lbs is getting into "finger tight" or less.

Or really annoyingly expensive tools. Mine is used for assembling a vacuum pump at work.
