Wheels.ca Review

Another very good review.

Looks like white will once again be the TSX's best color.

here are the cliff notes (taken directly from the article):

2009 ACURA TSX

PRICE: Base/Premium/Technology $32,000/$36,000/$39,500 (est.)

ENGINE: 2.4 L inline-4

POWER/TORQUE: 201 hp/170 lb.-ft. (auto); 201 hp/172 lb.-ft. (manual)

FUEL CONSUMPTION: City 10.5, hwy. 7.0 (manual); city 9.6, hwy. 6.5 (auto);

COMPETITION: Audi A4; BMW 328; Infiniti G37; Lexus IS 250; Mercedes-Benz C300

WHAT'S BEST: Sporty handling, good performance, excellentvalue in this class

WHAT'S WORST: A four-cylinder engine will never be as refined as a six, styling handsome but not as iconic as Acura hopes

WHAT'S INTERESTING: Canadian drivers can see how much fun the Europeans have

Actually, according to Canadian Driver, the prices are as follows:

The 2009 Acura TSX goes on sale April 21st with a significant price reduction: the base price has dropped by $3,300. 2009 manufacturer's suggested retail prices are as follows:

* $32,900 - TSX (6-speed manual transmission)
* $34,200 - TSX (5-speed automatic transmission)
* $36,200 - TSX Premium Package (6-speed manual transmission)
* $37,500 - TSX Premium Package (5-speed automatic transmission)
* $39,000 - TSX Technology Package (6-speed manual transmission)
* $40,300 - TSX Technology Package (5-speed automatic transmission)

The price reduction is not really accurate considering they dropped the leather seats....I was hoping the base price would be closer to $32,000 even. That AT base price is seeming like a lot of dough over the 08 Accord V6.

The base dropped leather, fogs and HID's.

Still too expensive IMO but so was the first gen. An 04 non Navi was $34,800 with either AT or MT.

Personally, I don't mind that they dropped those 3 items, especially since they upped the usable power while keeping fuel efficiency reasonable.....I'd like to see a $6000 cash incentive and no-charge AT to make things more comparable to US prices. Even then they get leather on their base.

To me it seemed like 75% of his review was more or less copied and pasted from the Acura press releases. And maybe one of our friends up North can fill me in as to why he hates fog lights.

Canadian automotive journalists in action. And he's one of the better ones.

Not sure about the fogs.

Actually, Jim is considered to be one of the "premiere" auto journalists up here.....he's probably the first name you'd think of when you say "Canadian Auto Journalist".

He's got a few long-standing beefs; one being Honda's tendency to put the sun-roof switch beside the steering wheel column, and another being fog lights because they serve no real purpose.

The fog lights on the old Integras where like high beams you keep on all the time if you wanted, but on the TSX I barely notice any difference between their being on and off.

I loved the yellow light of the fogs on my Vigors and 1st gen TL. They have gone out of fashion, but they worked great.

Fog lights on a US car serve no useful purpose whatsoever. The reason is, by federal regulation, you can't turn them on unless you also turn on your headlights. The dealer- installed fog light switch enforces this. Doh! Didn't these guys ever drive in the fog before?
