What happened to my navigation? :[ (2009 TSX)
2009 Acura TSX AT nav.
Was using my it one day, parked the car to the side was typing in an address and for whatever reason, the moment i look back up to my screen, i getthis message saying "downloading new software.......*downloaded*......Please insert dvd disc now." I dont know what button or function i pressed, but now its screwed up.
So pretty much whenever i start my car, this message appears and I can't even black it out. I tried reinserting my dvd disc from the trunk, several times to no avail. I took it to my dealer and they did the same thing, and said either the dvd modular doesn't work or i would need to purchase a new navi dvd that costs 150 dollars. Worst case scenario, dvd player breaks and i have to pay over 800 dollars to get it fixed. hope its not the latter.
Ive had this car since june 2008, (holy shit didnt even realize how old my car is now) and havent had a single problem with the navi ever. i dont understand what couldve caused this issue, i mean even the dvd disc won't work after reinserting it? Its super annoying, since #1. I can't use the navi function #2. I use my ipod a lot and its a pain trying to locate the song without using the dial feature, and #3. I can't get rid of that stupid message.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

try pressing map, menu and cancel at the same time for a couple of seconds.. the diagnostic screen will pop up. I cant remember from the top of my head whats going to be on there, but try to re-download the dvd..if you cant figure it out, i can try to check tomorrow..

no, i can't even get into the diagnostic screen that you're talking about. Something is seriously up.
i was thinking about draining my battery then jumping to see if it resets. I remember, it would take me the the unlock code screen. I might try that.

well, you dont need to drain it...just disconnect it for a couple of minutes..maybe it will work..
im guessing something is up with the dvd player unit..i dont think it would be the dvd..can you post a picture of what it says?

yea, like some one mentioned, you dont need to drain the battery. just unhook the battery.
but I doubt that will fix your problems.
take the dvd out. check the back side, check to see if there are any circular rings around it.
the 3G TL is known for having bad dvd drives. they go out and cause a ring around the navdvd.
if this is the case, your dvd drive has went out. you'll need to find if alpine still makes the dvd drive for the 2009 TSX. if so, you can send the drive to Alpine for them to refurbish the unit.
it does cost $160 to do so, but it is better than buying the whole nav unit at $2k.
hope this helps

I have a similar problem, and i have been trying to get it fixed for forever. Pretty much on your own...
Don't you agree it sucks that we paid an extra ~3K for a navi that doesn't even work?
