Post TSX 2009 Poll

After seeing various pictures of the 2009 TSX. I am curious to how everyone's reaction is.

I think there are plenty of pictures that show the TSX well enough to provide an impression on current TSX owners.

c) Reserving my judgement until better pictures are available that shows off all the angles?

MODS, can you add option C, and also move this poll to the original 2009 TSX thread?

Thanks.

i'd probably choose C too.

but based on my initial reaction to all the spy pics so far, i don't think it's a vast improvement in exterior looks compared to the current gen. i like some things about it, i dislike others.

Looks like a turd to me. I'm not a fan of the grill and the direction Honda is heading with their designs.

I think that thread is too long and confusing for a poll. Lets run with this thread. And pics added...

Thanks.

Don't like it! Either keeping my TSX and getting an LS1 f-body as a weekend car to work on or trading in for a leftover 08 TL-S or possibly trade for a G8 cause i think they pretty sweet too!

From what I've seen, I don't really like it. However, the pictures aren't that great. Soo...I'm going to hold judgment until I can see it in person.

I like the pics of the silver car with up-sized rims so yup I'm a fan.

BTW, weren't those pics supposed to be TOV-exclusive?

Too early to tell, but what I have seen thus far is not sexy enough to compare with the B8 A4. Right now, that car sits at the top of my list of possible replacements for my TSX, along with possibly the A3, if I want to scale down a little. We shall see what the final design looks like and I am going to go to my guy at the local dealership and take a test drive with him when it becomes available.

When I see the spy shots and such I normally reserve judgement, however after seeing the car on the trailer headed for shipment it then became clear that those didn't have any camo on them and were indeed production models. From what I could tell (and it was a pretty good clear shot of 3/4 of the car) I didn't like it.

Now I don't dislike the car in the sense I think it is ugly, it is in the sense of them not evolving the design enough. When you come out with a wonderful concept car and then use very little of it, to me it just doesn't make sense.

What also makes very little sense is how little Acura regards the opinions of the public. Instead of being so secretive until the last moment they would have been better off showing models at various shows, taking into consideration the likes and dislikes of the public, who ultimately will be buying this thing, and evolving the design further.

This was recently seen with the Hyundai Genesis where they showed the car with the logo on the grill and not. When the public ultimately chose the one with no logo on the grill (which looks 1000x better) they decided to go in that direction. If Acura did the same thing with their grill I guarantee it would have never made it past R&D.

This poll is POINTLESS because the car hasn't been officially released yet. The spy photos are bad quality and people need to stop judging the car so early.

Even with the camo still on, the design isn't convincing enough to make me want to trade up my 05 TSX. the design isn't much of a departure and just look at that grille... ugh.

I could be wrong, but here's what I think they were thinking.....

The TSX was a hit when it came out and has sold well ever since. They didn't want to do a dramatic restyling of the car and turn off the folks who bought the 1st gen. They wanted a updated version along the same theme.

Contrast that with what they did to the RL on the refresh. They had a car that has not been doing well in the last 2.5 model years. They felt a more dramatic restyle was needed and they went for it (whether that was a good idea or not we'll see).

I like what I'm seeing on these spy shots, I even think the grill looks good on the TSX. All I want to know now is what's under the hood. My guess is NA 2.4 to start, at some point (probably as a 2010 model) we get a version with the 2.3 turbo as well as a 4 cylinder turbo diesel. I don't think the TSX ever gets a V6, I think it will always run some form of 4 banger.

It looks good. Can't wait to see if the car ups the ante performance-wise. After seeing this, I'm not worried about looks and tech as long as the engines, transmissions, and drive wheel choices include make sense given the competition.

I don't know....I'm with the "wait and see" crowd. At first glance I'm not feeling the grill. But if the cabin is done nicely, and the performance is there I MAY be able to forgive that, you could always change the grill eventually. To be honest, it's still an Acura, and at least for me, the customer service alone would keep me coming back.

I'm curious whether Honda generates more revenue from Euro Accords or Acura TSX's because if it's the former then I don't think anyone has to ask why Acura did such and such with the TSX, ask why Honda didn't drasticly change the Euro Accord, we're stuck with whatever worked best for them. I believe that's why they have a hard time puting a beefier engine in the car.

Exclamation

^^ Wackura, I thought the US Acura Division had the power to change specs to a certain point? Like Grill design, OEM wheels, and etc. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The Acura web site provides a press release for the 2009 TSX with an image of the second generation TSX. The 2009 TSX will debut at the 2008 New York International Auto Show.

It's disappointed from the outlook, engine and being FWD. Seriously, which of its competitors are FWD?

BMW 3 series ... NOPE - RWD or AWD
MB C-Class ... NOPE - RWD or AWD
Audi A4 ... FWD and AWD
Lexus IS ... NOPE - RWD or AWD
Cadillic CTS ... NOPE - RWD
Saab 9-3 ... NOPE - AWD

It's sad that they are not putting much effort in the best selling Acura line-up. The front, looks alot like the new Accord. Acura has failed to use this opportunity to upgrade its BRAND image, the RL is... another disaster. I guess the new TSX is target against FWD segment then, Carmy/Accord/GM sedan/300M? <-- isn't GM going RWD too... it's sad.

What concerns me is that they keep saying that the new TSX defines where they are going for the future.....so what the hell does that mean? This "new" TSX is virtually the same as the last, so what can we expect for the future vehicles? Unless they have something up their sleeves to introduce later in 2009 for the TSX, I just don't understand their direction.

Is no one else concerned (looking at you Jan ) about the "172 lb-ft (with manual transmission)".

Does this mean the AT gets even less torque? Can the 5AT not handle all that torque

Dare I say it, but the Honda Motor Co is starting to be overrated and is starting to put out crap. I miss the old Honda/Acuras from the late 80s, 90s, and early 00's.

You know, I was actually wondering if they meant that the 5AT specifically would have different torque numbers or if its just poorly worded. I would think that the engine output at the crank would be the same regardless of the transmission bolted to it.

Or maybe 201 HP, 172 lb-ft is at the wheels.

On the other hand, maybe you're correct in saying that Acura doesn't have the AT technology to handle this new torque monster.
