Speedometer cable

I have a 2011 tsx ... all of a sudden I started hearing a noise which sounds like it’s coming from the speedometer cluster... it sounds like a cable coiling up and then releasing... its not extremely loud but it’s noticeable... it happens as I’m driving and it’s not constant... it will make the sound and then 10 seconds later make it again... it’s sporadic like that...

anyone ever have this problem? Any ideas? I was thinking maybe the speedometer cable... anyone know how to lubricate the cable?

anyone else experience this type of sound coming from the speedometer tach area?

thx

There is no speedometer cable. It's an electronic cluster.

Any idea what this noise might be... does it sound like a tranny issue... or axel? The sound to me sounds like when u use a snake in a pipe to clean it... when the snake binds up and coils and then releases, it sounds like that.... not sure if u ever had to clean pipes but that’s what it sounds like to me.... sounds mechanical...

A power side view mirror will sound like that when one of the pivot points gets worn or broken and the travel at that corner reaches its end, but I can't think of anything inside the instrument cluster which would create that noise.
Definitely get under the car and check the CV joints. Inspect the boots for tears, cuts, and leakage. Grease sprayed up and around the CV joint would be obvious if it's bad.
