Tire upgrade to 60's

Has anyone changed tires wall size from 50's to 60's for a better ride and mileage and what to expect ?
225-50R17 stock
225-60R17 upgrade

Thanks,
Jim

from 50 to 60 won't get better mileage, in fact it will decrease mileage due to bigger size which required more gas to spin the wheels.
but you'll get a smoother ride on roads. less bumpy.

Thanks for that but will the pivot interfere with the well sides and the ECU ?

That's a 1.77" increase in diameter.

Your speedometer will be way off. Your car will look as if its driving on balloons.

You're having issues with ride quality using 225/50/17??

Maybe try 215/55/17 for slightly more sidewall height.

The stock tire size 225-50-17 looks like go-cart size to small for the wheel size and also when I get
into my 06' CTS man I laugh at my TSX it does have a feel like a go-cart, the Caddy does have a great ride hands down.
I will check with the dealer tech programmer and find out if there is a ratio wheel adjustment that can
decrease the speed of tire RPM.
If I choose the 60's there will be a rise of .91" height to the car, little easier getting in and out of.
Thanks,
Jim

No offense but I think once you go 225/60s, when you get into your '06 CTS you're going to laugh at your TSX even more. BROlando put it perfectly:

I'm on 215/55R17s for winter and they're plenty comfy, but I understand this is fairly subjective issue.

Yes Brolando is right with that size at 55 wall will help but all that vacancy look from a side view looks disproportional
from opening to radius of tire, if I fill it in more with 60's. Well I have been a bit odd all my life why change now???
I'll be back, in a few months to let you all know how it turns out, now almost on balogna-skins for the winter.

Aside from the speedometer error, you are also technically committing odometer fraud.

What that means is that you have to disclose 'incorrect or unknown odometer reading" when you sell the car. The insurance company may also give you grief and may well make the car uninsurable for the next

Well I guess for forty years putting different size tires on cars, not hassled by
the puppet masters, I'm doing great, thanks for your concern.

I'm moving up to 235/60R17 this should improve on gas mileage, ride and appearance.

Slightly off topic -- dishonest NY cabbies would put on slightly smaller wheels / tires. The additional revolutions would add up on the meter and slightly increase your fare. It's an old ploy, and I don't think it's very common anymore.

Cabbies using smaller tires that's about right?
Jack-up the miles for more payola very clever, next time I will bring a measuring tape and check tire size first before accepting.

To Ceb, is it fraud if my tires are half or more worn out and the miles are higher than normal?

No, because the difference isn't that significant. But you knew that...

Agreed small adjustment in life aren't much an issue.

Now I'm going to wear down my existing tires till they are bologna skin slicks.

Have you done your catch-can yet?
