Thump/clung sound when starting

Hi guys,

Forgive me if the title doesn't make any sense but at random days not very often but when I turn on the engine I hear a loud thump and I can't figure out where its coming from. Its like right when the car turns on and the loud thumping happens and goes away.

I like to fix an issue before it gets big or maybe its a sign of something going bad. Keep in mind I have a almost going bad Alternator just a whine so not sure if the bearing is getting stuck and the belt is moving?

Thanks everyone.

Mines done that twice. Car was in the garage and it sounded like something fell on the floor when I started it. Posted about it here, but no one replied.

Yes that's it I wonder what it could be.

You must have Jinxed me - it did this sound again this morning! Only the third time it's done it. Sounds to me like it comes from the front engine driver's side area, but hard to pin down.

The hard part to figure out what area/part is making the noise is it doesn't happen all the time.

Put your cell phone near there, start the car with the hood open. See if a squirrel falls out.

The only problem is that it doesn't do it all the time otherwise it would be easy if it happens each time because you can always have someone look while turning on the car.

thump's lead me to believe it may be motor mount related.
