Steering in TSX Sedan vs. Sports Wagon
I have a 2012 Sports Wagon and my father a sedan. They are both the same year. Build dates are 4 months apart. I just took his car out since his was blocking mine and I didn't feel like moving cars around in the rain. As I drove his it became immediately apparent that the sedan's steering feel and response is head and shoulders better than my wagon. It's not even in the same realm, to be quite honest.
The sedan's is much more direct, tighter and well connected, whereas my wagon feels soft, over-assisted and dead on center...downright Buick-like, if you will.
Has anyone else noticed this? Does my wagon have an issue? I'm going to the Acura dealer tomorrow and testing another wagon. I wonder if the software is different for the wagon, being its all electronically controlled in these cars with the EPS. Does anyone know or had any experience like this?

Zero difference. And the only difference between the two cars is the rear suspension tuning.
I'd attribute it to tires or tire pressure.

When I had my winter tires mounted, the dealership set all to 40psi (well, 38LF and 40 for all the rest) and the steering was real quirky - until I reset the pressure then all was well again.

I've driven both and other than some extra weight in the rear, they feel very similar. If you're feeling a large difference, it's probably due to something else affecting the feel; as others have stated, pressure changes have a significant effect on handling characteristics on the TSX.

I have a 10 sedan and when I had a loaner for a week it was a 12 wagon tech. To me the, my sedan had a tighter steering. The wagon felt loose. Kinda hard to explain, but I didnt feel like my car. Another thing I noticed, which is off topic, was the sound system. It was a tech so it should have the better system, right. Well it sounded just like mines does, I have the base. I dont know if its because its a wagon but I was not impressed. I was expecting this awsome sounding system only find out it sounded just like mines did. Maybe it because it a complete open area instead of like a sedan where the base and sound is more confined.

i notice the difference between my 06 and my wife's 11 wagon when i drive it. but again, thats two different generations, but big difference between tight and responsive.

OK... I took my 2011 tech wagon in for work at my dealer, and they had to give me a loaner. Which appears to be. 2012 non tech wagon. The steering and handling does feel different from my wagon... I checked the tire pressure and it was low. All around the tires were about 28psi....

I also have a 2010, and have driven a 2012 as a loaner. The 2010's steering is much heavier at lower speeds, which probably explains why it feels tighter to you. Some complained about that heaviness, which is why more assist is provided at lower speeds in the later model years. At highway speeds, I thought the 2012's steering felt identical to mine.

Sorry to dig this thread up from the dead...
I have a 2012 Sportwagon Tech, and got a 2014 Sedan non-Tech as a loaner...
1) Don't miss the Tech package until you don't have it - the Navi I don't use much, but the audio package makes up for it..
2) Driving the 2014 sedan - it's like the twilight zone - all the touchpoints are basically the same, but the car has a very different character - the sedan felt, subjectively, nervous and a bit unsorted - it pushes a bit into the corners, and the rear feels light - checked tire pressures, and all at 32PSI, same as what I run on the wagon - so pretty much down to suspension tuning perhaps and a bit more weight on the back end...
Tech Package again - having non-tech is missing something... it's something that should be bundled on the base models...
BTW - they change the seats somehow between 2012 and 2014? The seats in the sedan are not as comfortable or as supportive as they are in my '12... it's more like sitting on rather than sitting in...

BTW - reason for the loaner is a non-critical issue - I have the "squeak" in the driver's seat, resolved to be the seatbelt latch/anchor, and since they considered this a safety item, they were more than happy to provide a loaner - hats off to the team at KM Acura in San Diego.

I was out in DEN earlier this month, and grabbed a 2014 Camry from National Rentals - even the poverty spec rental version had a decent IVE/Nav setup...
And back in Jan - same site, had a new Malibu - horrible car overall, but again, the IVE was Tech spec or better...

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
I think Acura (well, Honda to be exact) might be starting to realize their TECH is very inferior and under par compared to what other manufacturers have to offer. This is very specific to iPhone owners, but Honda is taking part in Apple's CarPlay technology, which is kinda cool. I'm thinking this will come to the new Fit first... I can't really tell which car this might be, but I'm thinking the car on their CarPlay page is a Honda. I'm probably wrong though lol.

iPhone barely gets by with the Tech Package - but it works... incoming calls are ok, but outgoing - there's a couple of threads here...
Agreed however, the TSX is good stuff for 2009... Acura/Honda could have done more, as most of it is software these days.
