Starting Car from your cell phone

Starting Car from your cell phone
I recently installed Viper Smartstart which I can start my car from my cell phone. This eliminates the hassle of carrying a big remote on your key chain. you can do this if you have an Iphone, Blackberry, or any android phone.
I've had it for couple of months now but i have not had any troubles and works great. Awsome in this cold cold weather.
I got the VSS3000

i had blackberry when i first installed the starter and it worked great and i changed my phone to an android phone and it works great.
Iphone, blackberry, android phones are all capable and it will work after you change the phones.

I do NOT need to turn off the car and restart.
After starting the car form the phone, just need to insert the key and turn to "on" position and step on the brake and drive away.
one thing that i could comment is that when car is turned on, OEM key remote does not respond so i cannot use remote on my keys. All Honda/Acura remotes are made that way so none of the bottons on the remote work while the car is on.
but i can lock/unlock from the phone anyways so doesnt really bother me.
also if you chose to, you can open the trunk with AUX but i chose not to since if i accidently open the trunk, i have to actually go out to the car and close it. where if i accidently start or lock/unlock with the phone, i can just hit the start botton again to shut the engine off or lock/unlock again with the phone.
i will try to do a video but not sure how to post it. may be if someone give me tips on posting video

When engine is ON, All bottons on key fob do NOT work
When engine is OFF, All bottons on key fob works
so, after engine is started with phone, key fob does not work. but you can lock/unlock with the cellphone

You see me, I CU2
So hypothetically speaking if you lose your phone and the person who has your phone knows what car you drive...he or she could drive away? Hypothetically of course...lol

correct, you must have the key in order to drive away. although they can get into your car.
however, you can have your phone password protected and on top of that, viper smart start app allows you to have password protection just to get to the app so you can have another security there if you need.

I bought this at Bestbuy for $399 installed. Plus the monthly fee which i paid for a full year $29.99. They had some promotion going on saying if i bought before certain date, I get a discount. So with out the discount, the anual fee is 49.99 I believe. This anual fee is required because the system uses cell phone network to send signals.
Also, if you already have a other Viper Remote Start (not with cell phone but with key chain remote), you can get a module for $199 (i think) and will work with cell phone and your current key chain remote.
I had many questions as well before I bought it but I was lucky that the sales guy at Bestbuy already had the system installed in his car and showed me how it worked right there so i jumped on it.
It may be some what pricey for a remote start but it is well worth it.
1. no need to carry huge remote with your keys
2. no limit on how close you need to be from the car to start. (I've tried starting it from 500+ miles away and it worked with out problem. Kinda scared my friend haha). This is very usuful for me cuz I have a 5 min walk from my office to parking lot and i can start it from my desk and car will be warm when i get to the car.
3. command recieved/error message shows up on cell phone screen
i could probably list a few more but these are big ++ for me. And yes it does kinda suck that there is an anual fee but I dont really mind it that much cuz if you think about it, its less than $5/month even without the promotion I got.
