Sound when putting down the window on driver's side.

I always put my windows down during day and night. But, normally the window slides down smoothly with no particular noise.

Now, when the window is all the way down automatically or not, it makes thud noise... like the window of a glass is forcefully stopped because there is an obstacle... it's very minor but this shouldn't happen right?

I don't know how the mechanics of the automatic windows work but it only happens when it is fully down, feels like something is off so that the window is not able to rest correctly when down...

don't know how to explain but it's not a big issue but wanted to know if this is covered under warranty?

I will post the video of the problem but I wanted an answer because i couldn't get a hold of my dealership...

any idea guys?

thanks.

Are you saying the noise occurs after the window is fully down and you're driving around and it'll just randomly thud? Or that when it's rolling down it'll thud as it reaches the fully down position?

If you have an existing warranty, then it sounds like (heh, no pun intended) like you should hit up the dealer.

Yes, as it's rolling down it'll thud when it reaches the fully down position...

Has that window ever been replaced?

To me that sounds like it's slightly out of adjustment, and just like you suspected, is hitting a lower stop. I'm just speculating on the TSX, but my 240sx made the same noise because the window had been replaced before I bought the car and it was slightly off. I ended up having to get in and adjust the window position in the roll up mechanism inside the door. Which of course made it clunk on the way up. It was a fine tuning to make it work... But then it wouldn't seal well.

I digress. Is that an original / OEM window?

Hummm if I were to speculate, it seems like it's the window regulator that is loose - perhaps a loose bolt. It should not happen (unless you're not OCD and don't care about rattles, squeaks, dragging mufflers and other equipment under the car, etc). The only way to properly diagnose this is to pull the door panel and take a look. Not complicated but you need to get a hold of the location of the screws/clips and proper technique (look for youtube videos).

If you are still under the 4/50 warranty then take it in.

I have this same issue but on the passenger side. Never really bothered me much especially since it's been doing it for a really long time now. No idea what caused it. The window still works fine though. I'm more worried about my lock actuators failing.

hey guys!!

i recently visited my dealer since i still had warranty until early next year...

I took it in and the technician told me that the window regulator had worn out and had to replace it with the new one...

and problem solved!!!

Vibration and toll on the car probably had loosen the regulator but it was well worth my time to take it in...

A happy ending!

How many miles did you have? Just for thoroughness and future reference.

Mine does that on the driver side, and also has an annoying vibrating and rattling noise when partially open as if the glass is loose, which happens both on the passenger and driver side. Original panels too. They are fine when closed or open fully. Guess I need to open up the door some time. I'm at almost 6 years and 60,000 miles on the car already, so I guess it was time for issues like this to start.

yes indeed!!

mine was around 24,500 when this happened... but weird thing is that it happened after a night out at a bar and when i came back to my car, there was two bags of chips on my windshield... so i assume somebody was resting on my window or door??? but still unacceptable...

It was like this all of sudden... could be mechanical failure since I did heard rattling noise before this..

In my opinion, it sounds as if the regulator needs adjustment. have it checked before your stuck with it down someday while it is pouring rain ;-)
