Service reminders

So I'm a new owner of a 2010 TSX and find this site very helpful. Have one question, my car just passed the 3000 mile mark and I'm aware that the first oil change is due, but is there supposed to be some sort of reminder to service the car that automatically appears in the display? I apologize in advance if this has been answered before in this forum.

Congrats on the purchase.

The Maintenance Minder will show up in the MID (Multi Info Display) when it is due, A1 for the first service. Your vehicle comes with oil that has special lubricants to aid break-in, so do not change the oil until scheduled maintenance time.

Depending on your driving style, the service reminder may not show up until much later. Some people has it by 4500 miles, mine did not come on until 7000 miles.

Thanks TSXTech. Interesting. So the typical 3000 mile oil change routine does not apply?

^Not really. Today's car runs a lot cleaner than they were even 10 years ago.

I put in around 16K miles a year, mostly freeway driving, so following the 3K change rule would require 5 oil changes a year.

However, after the initial oil change, you can always change your oil more frequently than is required, just remember to reset the oil life indicator (if service not done by dealer) after each oil/filter change so the system will function properly.

I have 5K miles and my oil life is at like 40 or 30% so I have like 2K miles left till me first oil change.

i have never seen the maint minder myself, I put about 40k miles a year on my car. I just change the oil and rotate the tires every 5k miles. Acura told me scheduled service is estimated every 10k miles, I r not comfy with that

They are working great and look awesome. Dealer was going to charge me $580 installed for some after-market ones (with only two sensors) that only come in black, white and another color that I forget. They would have to paint match them and my concern with that is the paint chipping off.

They were going to charge me $762 for the OEM sensors installed. I found them at Delray Acura for $195 (and another $195 for the wiring kit) and a local shop installed it for $75! Score!
