Red Calipers *pics*

So i went back and forth on painting my calipers red. i looked into upgrading to a BBK, but the Rotora kit would require spacers with the ron jon legends (which i will be getting later this year) and would not fit with the oem wheels. The red paint i was concerned would not hold up well over time. I did not want cheap plastic fake brembo covers either. I came across a product from MGP that are made from aluminum, reduce brake dust, fasten securely with a patented system, and act as a heat sink actually reducing caliper temperature. I ordered them in a custom pattern with the Acura logo and 2 "bolts" on each end as opposed to the standard MGP logo with 7 bolts along the outside edge. If you check out their FB page, you will see hundreds of custom cars with these on them and some of them look really cool. Ive gotten a lot of compliments on them already (though im sure haters will flame me on this thread for drawing attention to oem brakes). So I like them, and thought some others may be interested in seeing how they looked:

oh, and forgot, the logos are not stickers, they are engraved into the aluminum and painted.

Doesn't look half bad but it looks so much bigger than the disc making it look disproportional IMO

Cool idea tho

yeah, plus another $70 for the acura logos. They werent cheap. i didnt plan on spending that much, but once i decide i want to do a mod, i usually get carried away and do it regardless of price. And if i could do it over, i probably would have done black. but the red is nice. the black would just look more "in place".

doesn't look good, and i doubt that it can act as any kind of heat sink at all.

Looks like Azine is a little moody tonight lmao

It looks good but the price is blowin my balls. I like that you arent making a permanent change to the calipers underneath.

yeah, f these fools. ignoring price for a second, i happen to think they look pretty good, def better then if you had just painted them. I probably would have gone with black though . I couldn't ignore the price any longer, oh my expensive.

I think it looks weird in red. Black would've probably looked better imo.

Like the acura lettering though. And damn 200 bucks...

definite yes on the center caps

also, MGP also mentions that brakes cool faster with these covers on somehow.

I can kinda see how its would obviously cost money to produce 4 aluminum covers and engrave them, the price still burns my eyes.

At <150 i would be all over these

I highly doubt these have any performance or functional use, and its all for ascetics....

That being said it actually doesnt look as bad as I had expected when I first heard about them a while back...

They look good far away, but up close they don't look real.
I have a 3G TL, so I'd spend another 500 and get the RL upgrade. If you like them, that's all that counts.

I think they look good...I think they'll make more sense with the car lowered and your RJ's.

I may have opted for a less "in your face" color than red on that color car...but that's just me. Overall, nicely done!

I would have gone with black and for that price just painted the calipers, its not all that hard to do and looks damn good.

Oh and while money isn't everything it cost me roughly $30 for decals/paint.

I love painted/colored calipers though.

If you have a good relationship with the parts department at your dealer these center caps are standard for 2011's and you may be able to get a discount.

Letters color

Hey ufmike316 - is the logo and lettering on the covers white or silver, I can't really tell from the picture and I am about to order mine.
Typically Porsches or Maserati's have red and white calipers - are yours the same color scheme or you went with a little darker shade (silver).

This thread is OLD, and OP looks like he hasn't been around (0% activity). You can try PMing him and maybe an email will be triggered... but even then you might not get the answer you're looking for (from him).

I think they were white. Pm me and I can sell them to you at a deal if I still have them. I'm out of town until Friday night.
