Rear License Plate Nuts Stripped/Missing

Hi Everyone, I just picked up a 2010 TSX yesterday. Car is pretty clean, 28K, 6spd, no navi. I am replacing my 1998 Prelude and think it was a good choice so far. Now, my first issue, the dealer put the rear plate on with a friggin' drill. Needless to say, the top nuts are a bit stripped. I could go with a larger screw, but I am betting at one time it was actually setup for a machine screw with a standard thread. Any way to replace these? One of the lower plate plastic nuts was missing. So, I popped a new generic in, but it does not space the plate far away enough so the plate will hit the body. It looks like the other plastic nut has the same issue too. What do you guys do to keep the plate from rubbing the body?

a good Acura dealer should fix this for you....but yes the top are machine screws.

I have a plain black metal frame underneath mine with no issues...
...you could put strips of velcro behind it if you like to prevent rattles -- I may do that now that I think about it.

Had same issue on my car. Run a tap through the nut and use correct bolts.

Sounds like a plan. Ill do that and put some thick weatherstripping either behind the plate or on the plastic plate nuts to act as a buffer.

Looks like the bolts are M6. Any idea on the thread pitch?

Could be these: http://shop.moddiction.com/Moddictio...-Bolts-012.htm

These replace most engine bay bolts with a 10mm head. They are M6x18 socket head bolts and require use of an allen key for installation.

I checked MCMaster's website and it looks like they are typically 1mm. I will see if I have a M6x1.0 tap or chase in the toolbox and run it through. http://www.mcmaster.com/#socket-head-cap-screws/=kme1o1
