Lol problem is you can't fit all the cars in the garage I guess.

Geez the E46 is her daily? That's fucken awesome. Would've figured the Mazda3 to be the daily.

The mazdaspeed3 will be my daily once the motor is back in.

Anyone have recommendations on a hitch rack? Not going with a roof rack on the speed3(kills mpgs on the speed3, TSX I was able to get 28-29 with the rack).

Budget? Type of bikes to be hauled? needs and wants of certain bells and whistles?

Hitch racks vary from simple and not so sturdy, to the pricey get every feature possible. Hanging racks are fine for most bikes. Platform racks from what I have read elsewhere are nice and ideal for carbon fiber frames (the rack does not touch the frame, though there are less expensive platform racks that clamp over the top tube).

I own both types with all the features one can get. Both are pricey and both are equally sturdy. I only switched to a platform rack because I upgraded my racing bike.

If I wind up with the Sport Wagon (looking at one today), roof rack all the way for me. You already have the roof rails up there which is great and a wagon with a roof rack is just...right.

MPG will take a bit of a hit, but not like in the old days. Newer "aero" products from Thule and Yakima (Whispbar) have greatly streamlined the systems and they are much quieter and create much less drag than roof systems of the past.

Can I Get 4 Bikes With a Hitch?!?

I'm reviving this post in hopes that someone out there has a solution for me... I'm convinced (yeah, only took a few years, but I'm convinced) that carrying bikes on our SportWagon using a hitch system is the way to go. But the only hitch that's compatible with the SportWagon is the Curt C11085, which is a Class 1 hitch, and Class 1 hitches are only rated for 2 bikes, according to the so-called experts.

THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE! I've got a family of four. We want to drag our bikes to local trails, no more than 15-20 minutes away from us. Do I really need to use two cars to do this, no matter what I do?

eTrailer suggested there were 9 bike racks, including a Thule (the Thule Apex, TH9025) that would be compatible with our hitch. But Thule tells me that rack is only rated for Class 2 and above, meaning that if there's any damage using it on a Class 1 hitch, they wouldn't warranty the bike rack. Even on eTrailer, their video mentions that on a Class 1 hitch we could load just 2 bikes.

Tell me somebody knows how we can use our station wagon to get 4 bikes to the trails! Help!
