A-Pillar Design

Just something that's been bugging me about the new TSX/Accord... even more than the grille.

Here's a visual for ya... (Thanks Colin for the sport pack pics).

The photoshopped one is on the right, with the smooth a-pillar.

I like your design change. But I think we will need about 50 of these threads to completely fix all the design flaws IMO.

Not as much as we need all the haters to stop repeating themselves.

We get it, you don't like the new TSX. Move along already. The horse is dead!

As for the A-Pillar design, I never noticed this until now. I wonder if this design peculiarity has anything to do with crash-test safety? Just a guess.

Yea. Really! =)

As far as the A-pillar design, I think it has to do with this (from TOV):

Design & Styling
...
Thinner A-pillars for increased forward visibility
...

I have to agree. My model (07) it's hard to see from and I have to keep looking around it...I almost hit a pedestrian cuz of the damn thing.

Check out the a-pillar. (The windshield end caps)

T-Mac, I've had a similar situation happen... it's surprising how much the a-pillar can block. Although, it is nice when it blocks the sun.

The a-pillar design on the new TSX doesn't bother me. It looks fine -- but it's not something I really notice initially anyhow. If it's better in terms of not blocking my view as much, then I think it's a great design.

Ugh, what a hideous grille... Sorry... Yeah I like your changes, it makes the car look less atrocious.

^ Probably the New York show. I saw it there in person. Not sure what the color is, but it does look very nice.

Not 100% sure but I think that color is the Palladium Metallic, not the Polished Metal Metallic. Then again, there are so many shades of grey. Whatever happened to that bloody stool color that was part of the "future vehicles" before the auto shows.

Is that the Grigio Metallic? Prob not bc that should be yellow-gold type color. I wonder why we've yet to see that particular color. We've seen all of the others. For the record, I think the Glacier Blue is a nicer color than the current gen's Glacier. At least it looks nicer in the brochure. I've yet to see one in that color any where else.

As far as the A-Pillar, there doesn't seem to be much difference btw the original pic and the photochop. It does LOOK smoother, but will that really give you more viewing area? It doesn't appear so by the photos. I do agree that it looks better, smoother.

I think the Basque red pearl is the stool color you are thinking of and the Grigio Metalic is a dark charcol gray.

Hmmm...not sure but the Basque Red in the brochure looks very different from this:

I'm starting to think this color doesn't actually exist, unless "grigio" is a wine type color. Then it would make some sense, sorta.

That is just lighting, I Think. That color is similar to the dark gray on the BMW and Lexus.

It might have some bronze metal flake, however. In the brochure it looks like a bit of gold flake to me. My local dealer has that color on his first shipment, so I will let you know when I see it.

The a-pillar is not bugging me as much now that I see some "real world" pictures. Although, I do think they could have done a better job with the a-pillar and made it cleaner (smoother) looking by getting rid of that piece and using hidden glass clips or something... and Civic2TSX, it's not for more viewing area, they THINNED the outer a-pillar sheet metal and moved the window trim onto the a-pillar itself, which allows for a slightly wider viewing angle. =)

BTW That pic came from a random flickr page, here: http://flickr.com/photos/10728020@N0...7604164015367/
