Passenger side view mirror NOT tilting when reversing

When my TSX was new the passenger side view mirror would tilt down when I put the car in the reverse gear.

After 500 miles, I realized that it no longer tilts to provide me with a downward gaze/view.

Did anyone else have this problem?

Any fixes or I'm going to bring it into the dealer.

i think it's supposed to only tilt down if youre in reverse and the mirror adjustment switch is set to R

Try switching the mirror selection to Left then Center and finally Right. Then put the shifter in reverse. If that doesn't work, time to bring it in.

I noticed this too for my TL. The right side view mirror only tilts down when the mirror is set to R and in reverse.

FWIW, I believe it works on the left mirror as well if you leave the switch on L.

no black label, on the tsx only the right mirror tilts down when in reverse. the left doesn't do it. i guess they assume most people only parallel park to the right?

Both sides should flip down. I'm sure with time there will be a diy on this topic in the future.

Stop cheaping out honda/acura.

theyre assuming that since you are driving on the left hand side that you can turn your neck and see the curb. IMO the side mirrors should detach, float to the ground and show us the curb, and then re attach themselves to the car

just my 2 cents.

^ if you're street parking and you're driving on American streets, then yes, technically you should always be parallel parking using your right side mirror, as that is the side that should always be closest to the curb.

Only true exception I see or comprehend is parking in neighborhoods.

What is the point of them tilting down? For parallel parking to see the curb?

that, and also when you are reverse parking the car, you can see the parking lines a lot better, so you can line up your car easier on the spot.

That's not true. What about one way streets on which you can park on either side of the street? That's the case in most cities.

Good point. I forgot about them one-way's! Don't have too many of those out here in ATL.

I had to replace my drivers side rear view mirror motor for the second time now. First time at 75k and now again at 150k. The motor unit costs $90 and takes only 10 minutes to change on my driveway. A very easy DIY project. You only need a fine torx screw driver.

Do you have a DIY for this?

I have the same issure in my 09 tsx my right side mirror will tilt down but when I move the switch to right, it wont tilt down?
what could be causing this?
I am also having problems with the driver side door not locking. could this all be connected to the same problem?

thanks in advance

it's supposed to tilt down when the mirror adjustment switch is set to R. if it's not, then it won't tilt. are you saying that it will tilt down but after you switch it to the right, it won't?? if so then there's something wrong.

the driver side door doesn't lock at all? or do you expect it to lock after a certain mph is reached (default is 9mph). you can set it in the MID according to whichever key you use. it's all in the manual if you want to know what the options are.

My wife's Odyssey tilts down either side depending where the switch is placed. I can honestly say I have never used the left hand tilt. Her back up camera also has three different view modes, which I find much more useful and wish my TSX had.

I agree. This should not depend on that switch setting. Its should just do both mirrors all the time.

There is a legitimate, non-economic reason why both mirrors shouldn't tilt down.

When reversing into a "normal" parking space with a left hand drive car (parking spot on the right), you want the right mirror to point down showing you the curb, but the driver's side mirror should stay in the normal position to allow you to see traffic approaching from the rear.

However, I would've liked them to allow us to tilt the driver side mirror if we flipped the switch to L. Their implementation feels very "half done" if that makes any sense. It also makes me feel like my driver side mirror's motor is busted.

Hi Guys,

I have a Japanese Honda Accord 2006 24TL, 4 cylinder, 2.4L engine.
The auto mirror tilting when reversing stopped working all of a sudden. I have tried the mirror switch in all positions (L,middle,R) but still the same. The mirror moves into all directions when controlled manually so no problem with the motor.

Reversing lights and camera are working fine.

I have checked the fuses but all good.

Not sure if its a relay issue? but if this is the case which relay should i replace? the diagram is not showing anything related to the mirrors.

Any suggestions? please help

Regards,

Right view mirror in reverse

Thank you my Acura friends, all along the side view mirror switch has to be in the R position for the right mirror to angle down towards the curb while in reverse.........cheers Coldstream BC
