non-navi TSX to Navi TSX? HELP PLZ
Hey I just got a new Acura TSX 2013 crystal black, I am in love with the car But i want Navi in my car for convince purposes. I regret not get the the Tech package. So I was would if it is possble to get a OEM head unit and the control middle piece from ebay and install it in my car. Would this work? And does it have to be a unit from 2013 because 2011 and up have identical looking units; would older unit like these one be compatible with my 2013? Please comment below, it be very apprentice if you can help!
Here some on ebay

If the sole reason to attempt to upgrade your car is for Navigation then I would advise against it. Your phone navigation and/or standalone GPS is far superior to it.
You might want to look at systems like the Magellan Roadmate GPS with wireless backup camera. It might be more cost efficient if all your looking for is GPS and Backup camera.

Dude
i forgot where i read it but it's far more complex than just adding in those two items. something about amps and stuff too.
i actually have the tech package in my car and i wished that i didn't have it so i could've gone aftermarket for better everything. but i'm not unhappy with the tech package. 6spd and tech took me a while to find.

It can't be done.

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
It's way more effort than adding those 2 pieces you've shown us in your original post. I highly advise against this project. Of course, if you're ambitious, do more research and then decide if you still want to do this. Just write a DIY for us so I can do the reverse steps and strip the navi OUT of my car lmao. The navi in my opinion is outdated, and not very user friendly to use.
If I were you, I'd get an aftermarket head unit. The cluster of buttons can be replaced by either an OEM JDM double din bezel (which is rare and expensive), or something similar like a bezel from Metra which is a much cheaper option.
edit:
To answer your question about the screens. I don't know if they're interchangeable. However, the 09-10 screen is of lower resolution than the 11+ I believe. The navi was "improved" on 2011+ models.

The thing I want a clean unit that would actually look nice and clean in my car.I don't a unit that just look like it doesn't belong there, is the something like an aftermarket head unit that would be able to look like the OEM head unit? Don't one of one's where it stick on the windshield and stuff.

If you really want to do it then you need to find the screen, head unit, DVD unit, amp and wiring harnesses.

U know what I been looking at video of the navigation system of the OEM Navi and it look so outdated. I think you guys are right maybe I should just get a double bin bezel and put in a after navigation system. Thank you xtcnrice for recommending it. I was thinking pair up with the new http://www.parrot.com/ca/products/asteroid-range/parrot-asteroid-smart/
Unless you guys can recommend other bezels and Navi system?

I have a 2011 base and I'd love to have a touch screen in my car but i know a lot less about electronics than i do about mechanics. With that said, here are my noob questions: could you purchase a table computer and install it where the navi screen would go? Would it be able to run the same controls? Couldn't you do more with a bluetooth/internet connected tablet if you have a torque converter and say Flashpro?

This is only a good solution if you don't use anything other than your FM / AM presets, line in, and BT streaming. (since you won't have your radio buttons)
Here is a quote from myself from the other thread.
I'm going to extend the wires for the stock HU later and leave the connection point in the glovebox for if i need to get to the other buttons.
With the wheel buttons you can swap between xm, fm, am, aux bt/wire etc and change channels.
I NEVER use the menu or anything else, i set my audio settings just the way i like and never change it.
I took pictures when I did it, but didn't realize my shitty camera phone was making them all blurry till after.
Here are some pics linked below, showing the capture card, nexus test fit, what i cut on the bezel and the final install with a shot of the backup cam running.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...2017.01.55.jpg
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...2011.28.39.jpg
Step by step.... really simple
1. take apart entire dash, pull out radio assembly (DO NOT unplug the wires from the back) Take everything apart from the HU and leave only the box with circuit board and CD player (cd player can come out too, i didn't bother)
2. Get your Metra double din Bezel and cut everything around the sides like i showed in the picture, the idea is to get it flat.
3. mount up the n7 to the bezel along with your OTG cable ( i had to cut off the original end and solder a right angle)
4. route all wires down to center console, power, usb otg, audio if needed.
5. reassemble it all.

It would be awesome if you wrote up how to do this install!
I thought the OEM back up sensors were sensors only, not a camera. Looks like you have a camera. Is that aftermarket or OEM?
Also, is the CD player CD only or DVD also? It would be sweet to play DVDs on the tablet.

Oh i added that camera also. That CD player is the OEM HU. But you can't use it since it'll be covered by the tablet. BUT you can get a USB DVD reader and do it that way.
Maybe i will write up a full DIY...
If you want to do this you only need a few things
Double Din Bezel
USB Y Cable
Nexus 7
Nexus 7 CarDroid ROM
A few microUSB cables, USB extender cable, USB car charger (high current)
EZCAP Caputure card
And the Camera. My camera actually died now after this winter. so i'll need to get another. Hopefully a more weatherproof one..

is there anyway to buy the system from TL and install on TSX? I hate keyfob... especially when I accidentally locked myself out..

As mentioned, most Pioneer GPS in dash units are Carplay compatible.
To install a Double-DIN In-Dash GPS unit you will need a Metra Dash kit (Metra 99-7805CH), wiring harness (Metra 70-1730), antenna adapter (Metra 40-HD10), and steering wheel control module (PAC SWI-CP5).

Do you guys know if a CD/DVD player can be installed and what would be needed?

drill into the trunk, cover the exposed metal with primer (carefully), run the wires. easy 20 minute job.

I have stock Navi and I can attest to it being useless. I almost always use Google Maps on my iPhone.
Which brings me to this point; Have any of you heard of NavTool? They have one for 09-10 TSX Tech which allows you to watch DVD's/Stream iPhone content on your OEM Navi screen.
Some guy even connected an Apple TV to his NavTool and streams his iPhone using airplay. Pretty neat stuff, contemplating picking one up. $200

IF you can get video input working on the nav screen ( i think i saw a post on here with a how to) you can just buy an Apple TV or even the iPhone video out adapter and get this same thing way cheaper

Is there a aftermarket back camera with a backup camera up with moving trajectory lines? Like the newer one the accord that would move the lines to correspond with the steer wheel.
