New TSX or Used RL ?

Here's the deal...

I'm going back and forth between leasing a brand new 2009 TSX w/Tech, cuz I don't want to keep my next car for more than 3 years.

Orrr.. Outright BUY a 2005 RL with about 40,000 miles for a great price of $22,500. I would also be only keeping this car for 3 years.. unless it won't let me go like my 03 TL-S I currently own.

So I realize that the 09 TSX Lease would be a lot less money than paying 22,500 for the used RL, but I'm in love with the RL AND this new TSX (drove one for a few days when my car was getting repaired). Would the extra cost of the RL justisfy buying it over leasing a brand new TSX?

And again, I realize the power is a big difference but the TSX handles and takes off suprisingly well, I really couldn't believe it.. new cars I guess? I mean, I think this 200 hp car would be just as fast if not faster than my current car, 2003 TL-S with 260hp!

Aaaand... I know it really is up to me in the long run, but if it were you..

What would you do?!

PS- Maybe I'll just try and do BOTH!

no question.

RL.

not even a comparison if you ask me.

I'd get an 06 though, not an 05.
I stay away from first model years.

You can probably find both on the same lot so you should test drive them both, and I suspect that when you do all this chat will be irrelevant.

Although the RL looks better on paper, keep this in mind. The TSX was designed to appeal to drivers with an average age of 30. The Acura RL was designed to appeal to drivers with an average age of 50, the TL to someone aged 40. You're 24. That's much close to 30. The RL might have a longer feature list and a bigger engine, but Honda payed attention to lots of details that would make a 30 year old comfortable in a TSX that aren't accounted for in feature lists.

MMs - yeah, the first model year thing came across my mind... I figure if I get an 05 I should be good with a Certified RL, cuz at least I'll be good for the first year with bumper-to-bumper and powertrain for 100,000 miles.

and wackura I think the TSX thrills me more than the RL. I test drove an RL about a month before getting an 09 TSX loaner.. RL is just gadgety I love it plus the power, too... The TSX is also gagety with better stereo (Tech pkg anyway) and just much more of a thriller and definite head-turner than the RL, which is more of a car for grandpa or some old dad. Although, I definitely love seeing someone drive an RL through the st, especially at night with the circle LEDs!

The more I think about it and let it take over my brain, I wanna just lease new TSX blk/blk, and finance a crbn gry/blk RL.

Another thing to think about is maintenance costs. A 2005 RL would be out of warranty very soon, while a new 2009 TSX will have 4 years of bumper to bumper warranty. 2005 was the first year of the 2G RL, so keep the warranty/maintenance issues in mind.

09 TSX is even better in fuel economy than 1G TSX. and wind nosie/comfort level are also good. U get same real time traffic data as 05 RL with excellent music system. I dont see some one chosing 4 year old car over newer one. U atleast get new warranty/tire to play around.

Yes, getting an '05 RL would definitely need warrantys to keep my mind at peace!

CybrRdr haha yeah, it certainly seems that way. If I can get the numbers to work out just right I will be in Acura heaven. Ahhhhh...

Now it'll be deciding on the best color for each, and resisting my tempation of having all black cars.. It's just there's nothing like a fresh black "wet" looking Acura!

The RL is a pretty pimp car. Lots of power, fun to drive and lots of stuff that make you go oooooo.... I have now owned both. The TSX looks a little better, but you see the inside more than the out. Here are my 3 Acura's that I have had.
