New Sport Wagon Owner From DMV Area

Hello everyone, new 2012 Sport Wagon owner here. I'm 3000 miles in and must say I absolutely, LOVE everything about this car. The shape/comfort of the seats, styling, performance, the way the transmission holds a lower gear when slowing down, and overall fit and finish. Perfect. Coming from a family who only buy honda products this is the first Acura. My parents currently own a 2012 Accord and a 2012 Pilot, and even though they're both EX-Ls, the features and quality of materials do not come close. Currently the only mod I've done are tints. Nothing too crazy, 30% on rear window and 40% on the sides. I might do HID fogs, but we'll see. I'm excited to finally join AcuraZine and look forward to meeting you guys and learning a lot about the TSX. I've been reading the forms prior to my purchase and you all have been very helpful.

Welcome to the forums...I don't recall another BWP wagon on here.

Do I spy an Aero Bumper or do all wagons look like that from the back?

Thanks!

It was between white and vortex blue (wanted black interior), but back in May the only Vortex blue without tech on the entire east coast was in New Jersey. On top of that, if I wanted the car the dealer wanted me to pay out of pocket for transportation. Yeah..not happening. All in all, couldn't be happier with my decision.

Thanks for the welcome! Nope, all stock bodywork.

Wow, congrats. I must admit, as the months go on, I'm having more and more wagon envy. So much more Euro-style that way.

The icing on the cake for you - for sure better resale value. Good on ya!

Welcome! I'm in your area and plan on picking up a TSX (sedan) sometime within the 3-4 months. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Very nice! White would have been my choice but I wanted the dark interior. Enjoy it.

Yup, non tech. I already own a TOMTOM XXL, and don't mind manually closing the lift gate. The one feature I do wish I had is the back-up camera. But the side mirror tilt/turn head feature works fairly well.

Btw I'm very surprise how much attention the car gets. In the past 2 months I've been approached at the gas station probably 6-8 times and a lot of turning heads while driving around. Im not complaining, just surprised considering the car is pretty much stock. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I've gotten way more compliments in my TSX wagon than in my BMW or R32. The last car that garnered as much attention was my 2002 S6 wagon.

Wagons are cool.

I think it probably depends on neighborhood. I notice people look at my TSX in some places in NoVA, but in other places it doesn't get noticed at all. Only one stranger ever actually asked me about the TSX. Of course, I have a sedan not a wagon, so to most non car people it could be a Corolla for all they know.

only happened to me twice. Once on the freeway where an STi slowing down and rubbernecking. I didn't notice it but my wife did. The other was a 1st gen Accord wagon owner (mint and stock btw) pacing me exactly half a car lenght on a 2 mile highway.

Not really. There are a lot of wagon drivers in the Boston area compared to other places I've lived. Subaru Outbacks, Jetta Sport Wagons, A4 Avants, and BMW 3-series wagons. Lots of Subaru Outbacks. I haven't seen many TSX wagons though. Maybe 3 or 4.

Apparently something closer to chopped liver is now becoming the more popular color.

Its funny you mention that...I used to have a Jaguar xj and an Audi a4 with full s-line kit, but not once did a random person come up and say "nice car" or w/e.

Since i got the TSX, a lot of people complement me when I'm stopped or as a gas station. Kinda funny considering its a much cheaper car

Welcome, your wagon looks really good. It looks like it has side skirts, even though it doesn't. The rear bumper is great, too.

Congratulations on your new ride! It's a nice looking car.

My wife has the exactly same 2012 BWP TSX wagon tech but no window tinted. We live in Rockville and also bought it at Rothensal Acura too! We love this wagon! We may bump into each other in the neighborhood.

Its funny you bring up older accords. My first car was a 91 CB7 Accord Sedan and whenever I saw the wagon version I would stop and stare in awe. Everything about that car was great. Visibility, driving dynamics (minus the body roll and tiny stock brakes), and steering feel was on point up to the day I got rid of it in 07. I havent really thought about how much I liked the older wagon until I read your post and now I own a newer version of the same "Accord." Weirdddd

Its the same deal here in my area, but I agree the sport wagon is pretty rare. I've probably seen about the same amount since I got mine.

Yup, maybe we'll each other around one day.

Btw your car is pretty sick. Very tastefully modded.

You guys have very good taste! Thank you, I love it more and more each and every time I start it up. I've only seen one other BWP wagon and it was on I270. I was trying my best to get side by side but there was just too much traffic.

On the 1700mi we've been so far we're getting 26.1mpg. We've driven up and down a ton of mountains on this trip.

The first month I had my car, about a mile from my house, I came to a stop at the traffic light right next to another GLM Sport Wagon. Really made me look twice. Turns out he lives a few blocks from me.

Just last week, coming home from DC, I saw some Acura coming up fast in the left lane. Figured I would tuck in behind so he could draw police attention first. It was a dark red, or whatever ugly liver color they use, Sport Wagon. So far those are the only two sightings in about 6 months.

TSX Wagons are rare. A white TSX Wagon rarer still. Heh heh... I think you've found a unicorn. Congratulations and welcome.

Now and then I also get some attention for my graphite grey wagon. One person was driving in my blind spot getting a closer look. Some ask questions at that gas station. Actually saw a lady in an Audi A6 Wagon checking my wagon out.

Or maybe she was checking me out... hahah.

did you paint the lower valance black or is that stock? I have the GLM wagon and I think mine is body colored. Can't check right now as my wife has the car. I think it yours looks great.

The lower valance on white wagons is dark gray - almost black.

do you think there is a reason its NOT body color?

i would guess MAYBE its cause white and exhaust dont mix?

or was it a 11....12 difference?

or it just IS/
