Mystery Bolt

I typically keep the garage floor clean. The other day I went to open the passenger side door of the 2011 TSX and when I closed it I noticed a silver bolt on the ground.

May or maynot be from the TSX as I don't remember seeing it going to the car. It's about 1 1/2 inches long, hex bolt, with threads of about an inch and then smooth finish to the head of the bolt.

It was far enough away from the car that I doubt it could be from the underbody, but an open door would swing across that path.

?????

It looks almost identical to the bolts holding the door hinge to the body of the car, but both of them are in place. Could it be possible that the factory let one slip and it finally fell between the door sill?

I don't see any other missing bolts.

Bro I found the same bolt in my car after I bought it. I think it came from the seats but I'm not really sure so I just threw it in my glove compartment.

Hmmmm, I'm pretty sure that bolt is used to mount the OEM front license plate bracket.

^ looks similar to the license plate bolt. but then again the similar bolt could be use else where. i say, if you cant find where its from, and your car is running fine, just store it aside and later on when you do find it, just put it back

The license bracket bolts come with each car and are not attached to the car when delivered to the dealer. This is why it is just bouncing around loose.

If your bracket is attached to the car, make sure it has both bolts fastened to the recessed grille area below the bumper. (These are behind the license plate.) If your bracket is not attached, put this bolt with the bracket, make sure you have both bolts, and save everything. The next person who buys your car might be from a state that requires front tags.

Winner, winner... it was the front tag bolt. I took off the front tag, and laid the bolts on the table. I found an exact one like the mystery bolt on the table. The other one rolled off.
