Music from iPhone

Hello again everyone.

I was fortunate enough to get out of my contract with my previous phone provider and decided to get the iPhone 3G. The phone paired fine with the TSX and calls work ok (although changing the audio to the car speakers when making a call is kind of hit or miss.)

When I connect the iPhone a message comes up on the phone saying that the attached device does not support the phone and it gives me an option of having it on airplane mode.

When I set the audio to iPod for music it first said "Unsupported" eventually it listed the songs that I have and I could switch through them and all that fun stuff but there is no sound playing. I thought maybe it was the volume settings on the phone or something but I turned the volume up all the way and still nothing regardless of what song is selected. I have tried it on airplane mode and off and nothing I do seems to get it working. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

If you're talking about the A2DP feature in the TSX, then the iPhone does not support it. If you're plugging it in via the USB cable, then it should work.

Mine says the same thing when I plug it in but I ignore that. My music plays just fine though.

Hmm, apparently the USB cable that comes with the iPod classic and iPhone are different. I had the classic cable in the car and the iPhone one in my house, decided to give it a try and it worked fine. Ah well, thanks anyway.

Thanks.
Not sure about your sound problem but I think I know why you get this message. When the phone's wireless radio is active, if the phone checks e-mail or is receiving a call, the 'durka durka' noise might be heard through the speakers. Kinda like when you're standing next to unshielded computer speakers and a call is coming in.

When I test drove an '09 TSX (which I wound up getting) I had my iphone with me . . .hooked it into the usb port (brought the connection with me) and got the same "not supported" message . . .then it worked apparently seemlessly . . .I have done away with any potential probs by only hooking my ipod classic into the audio system . . .I let the iphone serve as a phone in the car (BTW both iphone and classic contain the same 11 GB of music, so that isn't an issue)

I was getting the same error message and found that if I first put the iphone 3G into ipod mode (i.e. start playing a song) and then plugged in the usb cable it works perfectly every time.

The airplane mode message pops up but I just hit no and the phone stays on and works fine.

Give this a try and see if it works.

Something changed on the 3G phones and latest model iPod touches and they don't work with the normal standard iPod cable, apparently there is a software interface problem. It may be fixed in an update in the future, but for now the old standard does not work. Same thing happened to my friend with his 08 G35X, he couldn't figure out why his iPod touch wasn't working and did some digging around and realized the problem.

Mine says "unsupported version" as well when I have movies on my iPhone. I erased the movies and it magically worked.
