Hey guys i just got back home from a 2 week trip where my car hasn't been touched at all, and the first thing that i noticed was that when i was trying to change the mode or volume or ch buttons, nothing works. all the other buttons work though... such as the cruise control and pick up and end calls... anyone know what's up?

Go to the center console, check if any of the buttons are stuck (FM/AM; (((XM))), etc). Or else, take it back to the dealer.

worked after i drove it around and restarted the car.

I've had that happen several times when I had an '09. It's a glitch in the car's firmware that happens occasionally. A restart will fix it every time.

The same thing happened to me last year... I was so pissed and was like wtf? My car was only 2 months old at that time... Thankfully, a restart fixed the problem as well

I'm starting to have the problem now with my 2011. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks!

Just restart your car and it'll reset the system. It doesn't happen very often.

Ok, so you don't think the system or buttons will eventually stop working all together?

No I don't. It's a software gremlin common in modern cars with all these gadgets. It happens in other makes too. It's akin to having to reboot a smartphone or computer after an app crashes. I've had it happen maybe 5 times in 6 years. It's not something that will become permanent.

'10 here and it sat for a month over the summer and same exact thing, no steering wheel controls. Stopped went to the store and came out and worked fine. No rhyme or reason for it.

It's estimated that about 35 percent of the cost of a new car is the software and firmware that runs all of the engine management, safety and telematics systems.

So a few glitches here and there won't be unusual.
