Missing options wish list

One of the options l had on my 03 325i that I miss are the rain sensing wipers. BMW has figured out that at night in the rain, the wipers will time the needed swipe during the fraction of a second oncoming headlights blind the driver. You hardly even see them move but the clean windscreen gives it away. They also move much faster in heavy rain than ours on high.

What options (realistic, we all want 500hp and 50mpg) would you wish for that are not currently available?

I'd like to see some of the options from the Euro Accord - adaptive front lighting, front/rear parking sensors, outside dimming mirrors, rain sensor and so forth.

I'm really used to my "three blinks" by tapping the turn signal - probably the only feature I'll miss from my 3 series (aside from the high pressure fuel pump that craps out every few months)

I like everything you said for myself except for the rain sensing wipers and three blinks turn signal.

I can do without the rain sensing wipers but not having the three blinks when you tap the stalk will take getting used to

LED Taillights...I mean come on they have been on the TL for over 8 years now so its not like they would have to spend tons on R&D.

Smart Key...I'm surprised its only available on some TL's and maybe RL's? All Nissans have keyless start now...even the Versa! I dont see why Acura doesn't upgrade that tech, especially on a company that boasts of their tech.

Better quality leather seats....

LED interior stock...Lexus has them, so do Dodge minivans! LOL Its a cheap aftermarket mod, but I dont see why they just dont have it stock. It shouldnt be an expensive upgrade and it makes the car look so much cooler.

6 Speed auto like ed said...it will boost both fuel economy and performance.

Things I would think is cool, but can understand why they dont have it due to costs or w/e:

SH-AWD with the RDX's K23 turbo engine. Basically the RDX powertrain in the TSX...imagine how fun that car would be!

Better interior ambient lighting like in BMW's or Mercedes. It would improve the ambiance and look of the interior significantly.

I think we need to walk a fine line between what is a luxury feature and what is a gimmick.

I love my keyless entry (Comfort Access in BMW language) but I recognize the complexity that goes along with that and the higher possibility of failure.

In looking at the change from the BMW to the TSX for practical reasons - primarily reliability. After 3 fuel pumps, a vanos solenoid and a handful of other fairly major issues (brake booster leak) that keep reoccurring, you've got to set your priorities.

If the TL wasn't so ugly and was the size of the TSX then I'd probably be looking at that, but what can you easily live without and not feel like you're driving a stripped down Daewoo.

I'm normally the only driver, so linking the mirror to the seat memory isn't really something I'd miss. We have pretty wide garages in the US so the folding mirrors aren't really a requirement.

Do I want a car so sophisticated that I need to "register" the battery to the car when I get a new battery so that it doesn't die early? Do I really need puddle lamps under the door handles - how often am I parked in an area where it is so dark that I can't find the door handles and the TSX has puddle lamps once I open the door.

What I want is those things that will make my driving safer and possibly more comfortable. The adaptive light, the parking sensors and some of the other Euro Accord goodies would be nice - but you pay for those.

I'm going to agree with Ceb on pretty much everything he posted.

If you want a true sports car, then buy a rwd Honda S2000 and give it a drop.

If you want lots of electronic toys and gizmos, then buy a Nintendo or Playstation.

If you want high-end luxury, then you have to be prepared to spend way more money than the asking price tag of a TSX.

I think Acura did a fine job delivering a nicely appointed vehicle that appeals to the driving enthusiast, while providing a comfortable & reliable ride and offering a couple of powertrain choices and Tech options.

Missing Options? I can't think of anything else I would want or need from a vehicle designed for this target market.

Vehicle Changes? I'm still not a big fan of the beak - but Acura seems pretty committed to this design.

Keyless access/start is about the only option I reasonably think the TSX should have, along with a 6-speed auto.

I do really wish for a 2.3T/SH-AWD drivetrain though.

I have the rear back-up sensors along with the back up camera, and they work together great as a redundant system. It would be nice to have a front sensor as well.

Also, the cooled seats (vented) or whatever you call them, I had them in an Infinity, and once you get used to them, they are pretty nice. However, they're usually in cars that cost a bit more (!) than a TSX.

better leather (mine is cracking at 3k miles), parking sensors, and a 6 speed are at the top of my list. Otherwise, it's perfectly acceptable...I think the tsx strikes the right balance of including essential features while keeping costs low.

Unless you've done something really stupid to cause the leather to crack, you should have it fixed under warranty. It will wrinkle. But it shouldn't crack.

At 3k miles that is a warranty issue. There should be a few wrinkles/creases that should virtually disappear with cleaning and that's it. The seats in my BMW look nearly new at 50k miles and everybody complains about cheap BMW leather.

that's funny that you mention the vinyl because they seem to use that in the new maximas and you can tell that it reeks of cheap quality

Vinyl has gotten so much better over the years but it still astounds me that MB thinks it is OK to put MB-tex into a $60k car and make you order leather as an option since there are none in stock in the US.

BMW figured that out - vinyl is standards but 95% of the cars come with the premium package that includes leather or - in the case of the 328 - the free value package that also includes leather.

I can see cloth in a premium car as an alternative to leather but not vinyl as the seating of choice.

In MBs case, most buyers are too stupid to recognize that the stuff in the car is plastic because they automatically assume it is leather.
