little specks of rust in the body paint?
hey guys.. i was cleaning my car today and finally inspecting the paint up close, and I noticed a few specks of rust in the paint in my trunk lid, near where the licence plate is.. it's very small, and almost unnoticeable unless you look real close. Is this normal, and if not.. how do I get rid of it and what should I do? I don't want this to spread.
I asked the dealer, they said this is normal and if I clean it and wax it, it'll be fine and gone.. true? have you guys noticed anything similar? My car is only 4 months old!

looks like we got an epidemic on our hands boys.
check the search feature, 2 other users had rust issues too. I want to know what the car care habits are for you guys with rust. Do you never wash it? Wash it occasionally but let it airdry? And how is your local climate? I see you are in ontario so im gonna assume your car is always getting a wintry beatdown

I believe its iron contaminate.
When your car was being transported via rail or truck, industrial fall out gets embedded into the paint.
Check out a product called IronX or something to that name.
A clay bar will also pick up the surface contaminates that are embedded into the paint.
If you clay, you have to seal your car with a sealant or wax.

with all of honda/acura white cars... rust will develop from the rear bumper.. right below the trunk... It happened on my 05 S2000, 06 TL.. and my friends 2010 accord..... all white...
it is contaminates/oxidation stuck on your paint.. if you take your fingers and swipe it across that area, you will feel a lot of friction...
what you have to do is, wash your car, then Clay bar it, wax and polish... I guarantee you that this method will work... It worked for my s2000 and TL... i told my friend, he tried it and it worked on his car too.....
when you are claying the affected area.. you will see it slowly take off the "rust"... youtube for directions on how to claybar your car!
i hope this helps

I have 3 tiny rust spots. 2 of them developed from paint chips (hood and front bumper) and 1 is on the driver's door. I ordered the product after watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQFJJhDqsUo
As soon as I get it, I will post a review... I can't stand these rust spots and my car is just 5 months old!!!

Correct, but you'll need to use a clay bar to remove the rail dust. Virtually all cars have rail dust on them but it is obviously more visible on some colors.
Wash your car, use a claybar with plenty of lubricant to remove surface contaminants, then polish and was (or seal) the paint.

I have an '09 TSX and i had a spot of rust on the roof and a little spot of rust on the door. I was like 500 miles until my warranty was up and they took care of it all. I can see spots starting to form around the door handle though. Im pretty unhappy because i had a '99 CL and it had a lifetime rust warranty. Wheres the lifetime rust warranty on the TSX?

I may be fat but I'm slow
My wife's white Jetta had the same problem. It's iron particles collecting on the paint surface and then rusting, it isn't the car itself rusting. Agree, claybar fixes it just fine.

Great! I was going to bring up another solution but people would have too much fun with it. Iron (iron oxide is a base). Your urine, in as like uric acid, is an acid.
Collect some urine in a cup and pour it over the base areas. After 30 minutes rinse, wash, rinse, and apply wax.

professor whered you read that?
urine is pH balanced, aka neutral due to the low concentration of solvents in the water. though the main solvent in it is ammonium, which would make it slightly acidic
Rust is accelerated in acids due to the high level of hydroxides produced.
in other words, peeing on rust is bad, not necessarily because of the pH(which doesn't help if its slightly acidic, makes it worse), but because of the salts. rust occurs with oxygen and water, and is accelerated with salts due to the electrochemical reactions

VTEC just kicked in, yo!
Claying your car should be sufficient. It's probably rail dust that oxidized on your car and the clay bar should be able to pick it up along with any other tiny contaminants.
