Larger battery.

It's possible to replace the current 51R battery with a larger battery without heavy modification to the battery bay area?. Have anyone done it before. Current battery is really not holding up too well in the winter and have to keep charging it between day while having the car seating.

Thanks.

Physical size is not the determining factor in batteries. A larger battery is possible in the same size space/container.

Battery size is determined by amperage rating. In general the more you pay, the more amperage you'll get.

Shop for amperage not battery size. For any vehicle there's usually at least two different amperage offerings.

I put in the V6 battery size (24F) about a month ago for better starting during winter. Worked out fine. Used an inventory Bin i found at work as a tray, which was the perfect dimensions. Doesn't move around horizontally at all and all the cables are sufficient length.

Still need to install a proper tie down, just been lazy.

Your right. I did some more research, looks like most Honda accord I4 drivers upgraded to 24F and V6 comes with 24F.

Your battery is dying. Just replace it with a reputable brand with a great warranty and call it a day.

Sounds like you need a new battery rather than a larger one.

I was having a similar issue with the crappy OEM battery that comes with the car.

I'm running an Interstate 51R battery that has more Cold Cranking Amps (500 vs 430): Car and Truck Automotive Batteries - Buy a Vehicle Battery for Cars or Trucks | Interstate Batteries - Mega-Tron 51R Automotive Battery Five-Year Performance 500 CCA.

The car starts up fine even at 10 degrees F. Goodluck

DONE, autocraft 24F AGM battery fits right in. Have to flatten the metal hold down to make it fit for a larger size.

Yeah I just replaced my small 51r
With a larger AMG 24f (v6)battery. I used a v6 tie down and boom it fitted right in!
cca 680 800 cranking amps
Feels so much better !

Did you also get the battery box? Or does our stock tray work?

I installed mine without the box , if you want to install one the V6 box would be needed ! They are cheap to get anyway. ..!
